"Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do.

Attitude determines how well you do it."

-Lou Holtz

Driving in to work today the radio hosts talked about awards that we try to earn that are not real. These awards include titles such as, "Slept the Least", "Worked the Most", "Didn't Make a Mistake", and so on. These are real things that we somehow twist and create value towards rather than understanding how damaging they can be.

On this rainy-turned-sunny hump day, I want you to consider a new goal. Rather than work towards perfection, I encourage you to embrace working with purpose. If we engage any task with a "I don't want to mess up" mindset, we automatically create tension. However, an inner-monologue that reverberates, "I want to do this well", is a simple shift in how we tackle each and every actionable item.

Doing something well does not mean perfectly. Even Google supports this theory, "Striving for perfection can lead to procrastination,

anxiety, and unrealistic expectations, while focusing on doing something well emphasizes progress, learning, and personal growth."

"Well" by definition equates to good, proper, thorough or even sensible. So my friends be good. Be proper. Be thorough. Be sensible. Because these things are far more valuable than perfect.
