But alligators really are friendly!
Many years ago, a colleague shared a story about their "Bring Your Pet to Work Day" experience.
What happened? An employee brought in an alligator. Yes, an alligator!

According to the colleague, the co-workers did not seem to mind, and they participated in the photo-ops, petting, holding it, etc. Shockingly, the organization swiftly reversed course and implemented a ā€œno pets in the workplaceā€ policy.

Many times, even more so now, we are asked by clients to create policies that could incorporate every and any possibility. However, no matter how awesome policies are, we can never fully prepare for the alligator in the shopping cart; managers and employees need to learn to adapt to changing times.
