In her first ‘Featured Exhibition’ in our gallery - Barbara Rivera - is a Cuban-Mexican-American self-taught artist, who has participated in numerous Group Exhibitions in our gallery over the years.

Barbara’s artwork draws from her multi-cultural background…her father was a political refugee from Cuba, and her mother, a Mexican immigrant. The resilience of her parents and the influence of being a daughter, mother, wife and American, is the source of inspiration for her artwork and a celebration of identity, and the stories that emerge from multicultural roots.

“My paintings are a reflection of my life, my journey, and the things that are important to me, as influenced by my surroundings: people, places, cultures, and things that I love”. Barbara Rivera

Cultural Heritage: influences everything from art, music, food, and social norms…a diverse, interconnected, unifying force of traditions that is the soul of our nation.

Cultural Heritage: is the core of America – it enriches, and foundationally shapes our nation’s identity. We are defined by who we are as a nation and “We its People”, refuse to be reduced to being a tagline for ignorance and intolerance.
