Avondale House partners with Pampered Pet Recreation Center through our employment services program. Pampered Pet Resorts has been an active part of the Houston community for over 40 years, starting with Pampered Pet Inn on Bissonnet St., and continuing with Pampered Pet Recreation Center, right next door to Avondale House on O’Meara Dr.
Meet Eryn. Eryn is one of our employment services program participants and works at Pampered Pet Inn. Her supervisor says, "Eryn worked alongside our staff and directly with our dogs on various day camp tasks. First, she executed a one-on-one enrichment, where she led Winnie, an English Cream Retriever, in exercises involving the, “sit,” command, balance, and climbing. Eryn even took a few photos of her new friend to share! Then, she went out to our play yards to help with a doggie foam pawty! She was able to monitor her very own small group as they played in the foam and dutifully disposed of any poop so our dogs could continue to play in a clean environment. Lastly, she worked with our staff to clean and sanitize kennels and dishes, learning more about the importance of cleanliness in pet care facilities and the dangers of unhygienic conditions. Overall, it was a joy to watch Eryn grow her confidence, share her current knowledge of dogs, and continue learning more to bring into her future career.
