Partnership Brings Top Shelf FREE Resources to Grow Your Business
Exclusively offered to up to ten for-profit businesses, Scale-Up Nash County is a no cost program created and designed to assist with growing and developing existing businesses that have been operational for one or more years. Objectives of Scale-Up Nash County are to support businesses in reaching a seven-figure revenue stream and/or with the creation of 50 jobs over a five-to-ten year period. Participants completing the program will receive a $1,500 scalability grant.

TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE INCLUDE:

  • A business assessment to identify critical areas for prioritization and creation of an action plan,
  • Digital media audit, recommendations, and a deliverable provided by the SBTDC Digital Shop team, 
  • Industry intelligence and market research reports based upon the businesses main NAICS code,
  • A financial analysis audit and benchmarking report for businesses providing 3 years of financial statements (Income Statements and Balance Sheets),
  • Assistance with creation of a 2–4 page growth and strategy plan and an oral pitch,
  • A scalability grant of $1,500 at completion of the Scale-Up Nash County program,
  • A twelve-hour business course on topics such as scaling, exporting/importing, employee training, bonding, customer service, human resources, and finances (classes will meet for 3 hours per class, once a week for four weeks),
  • Free meals prior to classes with networking opportunities (one hour before class),
  • Confidential one-to-one technical assistance with subject matter experts,
  • A resource fair for business owners to connect with local resources and to network with businesses,
  • Ongoing confidential business counseling and business seminars.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must: 
  • Be located in Nash County,
  • Be in business and operational for a minimum of one year,
  • Complete an interview process to be held by telephone or an online meeting,
  • Complete confidential business assessment and digital media audit,
  • Attend all classes (Weds., September 14 – October 5; 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM),
  • Participate in technical assistance with subject matter expert(s),
  • Exit with a growth and strategy plan (2 – 4 pages) and pitch the plan,
  • Attend a local resource fair, 
  • Provide the Small Business Center with copies of all reports, written recommendations, and/or all documentation provided by the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to the business for grant audit purposes only and to be held in strict confidentiality by the SBC,
  • Complete on-line request for counseling forms for both the Small Business Center and the SBTDC if not already a client and if selected to participate in Scale-Up Nash County,
  • Complete confidential business surveys annually for five-to-seven years (all survey data collected will be strictly confidential and results will only be reported as aggregate data regarding outcomes of the grant.

DEADLINE:

  • Completed applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022.
  • Participation is limited, so please do not delay in submitting a completed application.
  • Businesses will be selected and notified on, or before, September 9th.

Technical assistance may be staggered during this timeframe in order to serve each business individually and may not be each week over the course of this timeframe. Technical assistance may be offered at the business location and/or at Nash Community College Small Business Center.
