In Pursuit of Happiness by papercut artist Rosa Leff opens in the WCAC galleries on November 5, 2020 and continues through December 1, 2020. Social distancing and wearing masks are required for all visitors.  In Pursuit of Happiness is available virtually on the Arts Council’s website (www.washingtoncountyarts.com).

All of Ms. Leff’s papercut work is hand cut from a single sheet of paper using an XatĂł knife. Ms. Leff is best known for her obsession with powerlines and urban landscapes. The artist now serves on the board of The Guild of American Papercutters.

Maryland Symphony Orchestra to Present Virtual “Home for the Holidays” Concert FREE for the Community

The Maryland Symphony Orchestra will present a virtual “Home for the Holidays” concert on Sunday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will be offered free of charge on the symphony’s new “MSO Live! Virtual Concert Hall” streaming platform at watch.marylandsymphony.org.
For nearly two decades, the MSO’s “Home for the Holidays” concerts have become the area’s favorite holiday tradition with families and friends gathering to listen to the magical sounds of Christmas that are sure to fill hearts and souls with goodwill throughout the rest of the season. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the concert will be live streamed from the Maryland Theatre Performing Arts Center exclusively on the new virtual concert platform that has been developed by the orchestra. There will be no live audience for the concert.
The “Home for the Holidays” program will feature the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s brass musicians in a delightful performance of familiar tunes and grand classics that blend beautifully into the atmosphere of the season.

HOW TO ACCESS THE FREE CONCERT
To access the concert live stream, patrons will need to create an account on the new “MSO Live! Virtual Concert Hall” streaming platform at watch.marylandsymphony.org. There is no charge to create an account.
Through this newly developed platform, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra's upcoming live performances will be accessible on over 1,000 devices including iOS devices, Android devices, MACs, PCs, streaming media boxes such as Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Chromecast. Additionally, native apps can now be downloaded on Roku and Fire TV for easier viewing at home.
Over 70 original paintings from bestselling books set the theme of the exhibit and take you on a journey around the world to learn about the places and cultures from which Jan Brett gets her inspiration. From tropical rainforests to Arctic igloos, your imagination will fly away into The World of Jan Brett. The World of Jan Brett is presented by the Oshkosh Public Museum (WI) in partnership with Jan Brett.

IN-PERSON SUBSCRIPTIONS
In the coming week, we will be reaching out to our 2019-2020 season subscribers with options for renewing, including limited-in person seating. Due to reduced seating capacity in the historic auditorium and mandated social distancing indoors, only 100 seats can be sold for each performance. Although we will attempt to accommodate seat requests, many seats are currently unavailable due to social distancing guidelines. A sample seating chart can be found below in this email. At the current time, only Orchestra level seats are available at three different price levels. No balcony level seats will be sold.
All subscriptions for in-person attendance must be processed by phone with our box office staff in an effort to assign seats in a socially distanced way. Additionally, all 2020-2021 season subscribers will need to purchase a minimum of 5 concerts for in-person attendance.
As we approach the first part of December additional in-person subscriptions may be offered, depending upon seat availability. All in-person subscriptions include access to the new MSO Live! Virtual Concert Hall platform. Virtual subscriptions can always be upgraded to in-person tickets at a later time.
If you were a 2019-2020 season subscriber and are interested in in-person concert attendance this season, please keep an eye out for a mailing from the orchestra. Otherwise, please know that a virtual subscription package can be ordered right now for $149 per HOUSEHOLD. It's a fantastic deal that includes all six concerts during the 2020-2021 concert season.
SINGLE IN-PERSON TICKETS

Any seats unclaimed by renewal subscribers will be offered as single tickets beginning in January.

We realize that you may have lots of questions. To best serve you, it is recommended that you email your questions or concerns to tickets@marylandsymphony.org. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
We look forward to a triumphant return to the Maryland Theatre in January 2021!
Warmest regards,
