Sunday is here, but that doesn't mean Sunday is over.
Eventually, the backpacks will be packed. The lunches will be made. The alarms will go off at hours no child believes should legally exist. Schedules will return to the refrigerator. Practices, meetings, homework and activities will fill the calendar. And parents will once again spend too many of their waking hours asking, “Do you have your water bottle?”
But that’s exactly what makes August special. It carries that Sunday feeling, the awareness that something is ending, while reminding us there is still time to enjoy it. So don't rush August. Take the walk.
Jump in the pool. Sit by the campfire. Go fishing. Stay outside until the mosquitoes officially win. Eat the ice cream. Make one more summer memory.
And when September finally arrives, we'll trade flip-flops for backpacks and welcome the familiar rhythm of school, community activities, fall sports...and, of course, the Walworth County Fair.
