Message from Jess Leorna, Chief Executive Officer

Aloha kākou,

In 2020, 2021, and 2022, the world – and our industry- shifted. We’ve all learned not to take our lives or our loves for granted.

Since 1955, BIA Hawaii has been a staple in the building industry because of the strength, commitment, and accomplishments of our membership – and we have only become stronger through the strains put on our members and our association during the pandemic. I’m proud of the efforts we made in 2022 to foster stronger relationships across sectors in the industry- this is a goal our Immediate Past President Daryl Takamiya and I continue to share as we both believe collaboration is the key to getting things done, and done well.

2023 BIA Hawaii President, Sarah Love, has a vision to activate our membership– and I can’t wait to see our association flourish as our members get more involved and their businesses grow stronger, up and out of the pandemic era. We aim to launch new programs, build our trade shows up to become powerhouse events, and hold networking opportunities for our members who’ve been patiently waiting to see one another in-person again. We will continue to steadily improve relations with our elected officials, as well, with the added benefit of transparency into inevitable change as it comes; we aim to be the first to know and a resource to help guide decisions for the betterment of our community and our members.

I know you’ll be as excited about BIA Hawaii as I am when you see your colleagues become members, offer their leadership skills to our committees, up-skill in our classes for their own professional growth, and attend our events! We have a jam-packed year ahead and I look forward to it with pride and confidence.

Kind regards,
