A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
This month, rather than the usual emailed President’s Message, I thought that I would leverage our new resources at Communications LAB and give my President’s Message a technological update. Hopefully you will enjoy hearing about the amazing things going on with BOMA OC - and trust me, there’s a lot!

In the video above, I share some of the following items:

  • My BOMA OC Goals for 2021
  • Our Event Strategy for this year
  • Updates from the BOMA International Winter Business Meeting
  • And share some information about the State & National Lobbying efforts

Thank you!

VIRTUAL TOBY TOUR - AIRPORT TOWER

On February 25, BOMA Orange County Young Leaders held a virtual tour of the 2020 Outstanding Building of the Year recipient, Airport Tower, managed by The Muller Company.

Attendees were able to ask building staff detailed questions about the building and the TOBY process.

The event was sponsored by BluSky, Bright View, Gothic Landscaping and Great Scott Tree Care who provided $100 Amazon gift cards to four lucky attendees.
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE AT WORK FOR YOU
Governor Newsom signed a package of bills meant to provide economic relief due to COVID shutdowns.  Our lobbyist, California Business Properties Association (“CBPA”), has advocated for many items in this package that will provide direct relief for small businesses and waivers of certain business/licensing fees directly impacting restaurants, bars, and a few other retail tenants.

The small business grants now have a $2B pot of funds to draw from. The grants provide up to $25K for small businesses (defined as up to $2.5M in gross revenue) and can be used for overhead expenses, including rent.

Key Provisions of the Bill Package:

  • Direct Relief to Individuals and Families
  • Immediate Relief for Small Business
  • Fee Waivers for Heavily Impacted Licenses
  • More Resources for Critical Child Care
  • Additional Aid for Individuals and Families
  • Emergency Financial Relief to Support Community College Students
  • CalFresh Student Outreach & Application Assistance
  • Restoration of Reductions
