Dean's Corner
We are proud that Bergen's Promise is growing everyday. Over the last several months, we've welcomed many more families, new members to our team, and welcomed more provider and community-based partners. We've opened up a second office in Hackensack as a result of our growth; and
continue to recruit hard-working and compassionate Care Managers and Care Manager Supervisors to join our team.
We're also thrilled to be involved in the launch of a web-based, county resource portal called Bergen ResourceNet which connects providers and families to programs, activities, events, organizations, and services available to youth and families throughout Bergen County!
As we approach the summer months, we hope that you and your families have a safe and healthy summer.
Dean Pastras, ACSW, LCSW
Executive Director

The Pediatric Behavioral Health Home Highlighted at the First New Jersey Children's System of Care
Performance Improvement Fair
Last month, the integrated Wraparound approach of Bergen's Promise Pediatric Behavioral Health Home (BHH) was highlighted in a poster presentation at the Performance Improvement Fair held at the Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton Center for Health and Wellness. Many Children's System of Care partners and providers were present to share with others their unique, effective ways of helping youth and families.
It was interesting and inspiring to see what other programs have achieved, as well as to share our BHH successes! The BHH Performance Improvement Fair poster is currently displayed in the lobby of the Bergen's Promise office.

Caring for the Well-Being of Our Team Members
The Roman Poet Virgil once said "The greatest wealth is health." Health and wellness are a fundamental part of our lives. The Bergen's Promise volunteer Wellness Committee hosted their first Wellness Fair. Staff members were able to explore various dimensions of well-being by visiting any of the twelve stations that focused on proper eating, exercise, massage therapy, insurance, dental, CPR, and much more.
According to Joanna Henry, Care Manager Supervisor, "It was truly a wonderfully revitalizing event and one that we look forward to participating in again in the near future."
A special thanks to all of the Wellness Committee members and following vendors present to provide the opportunity for our staff to enjoy some self-care moments:
- Aflac
- Blink Fitness
- Blood Pressure Screenings by the Wellness Committee
- CPR Station provided by Wellness Committee and AHA
- Delta Dental
- Hackensack Medical Center
- Horizon Insurance
- Montclair State University Audiology Clinic
- NVA Vision
- Reflexology
- Shoprite - Dietician
- Valley Hospital

Sharing the Bill of Rights for Adults, Youth and Children with Behavioral Healthcare Needs and Their Family Members
In May, the Family Support Organization of Bergen County joined the National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health in celebrating this year's theme for National Children's Mental Health Awareness Week titled "Healthy Families, Resilient Children: Mental Health is a Family Affair."
The FSOBC shares in strengthening the community awareness of children's mental health by having as its primary philosophy the recognition of the worth, knowledge and dignity of all families and caregivers. To understand how families can be supported in their hopes for their children and their families; the FSOBC is honored to provide the Bill of Rights for Adults, Youth and Children with Behavioral Healthcare Needs and Their Family Members
as presented by the National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health.

Positive Story: Dylan
Dylan is a 13-year-old boy who has been living with autism since 18 months old. He and his family were struggling with his aggressive, self-injurious behavior and lack of ability to communicate. Consistent and collaborative Child and Family teamwork between the school district, the family, and Bergen's Promise led to dramatic improvements for Dylan and his family.

We hope that YOU will consider letting us highlight your story of Wraparound Success!
