How Is "Getting Beyond The Wall" A Different Reentry Curriculum?
"Getting Beyond the Wall" is an 8-12 session program for incarcerated or recently released men and women to help them build the awareness, insight and skills to maximize their ability to engage in successful reentry.
Working with the documentary film Beyond the Wall, participants will follow the stories of a small community of men released from prison who are attempting to rebuild their lives while remaining crime free and drug free.
The Getting Beyond the Wall Curriculum brings together three components:
- A strong group process built upon confidentiality, trust and shared respect.
- Building awareness and mind-body skills to manage stress, and work with and regulate emotions.
- A storytelling model emphasizing understanding one's past and building a vision story for the future all in the process of group discussion.
