Topic: equity, inclusion and diversity in our district 
 
Board meeting focuses on commitment to equity   
The importance of equity, diversity and inclusion was a focal point of the March 18 School Board meeting. The meeting began with comments by Board Chair Tim Klein affirming the School Board's commitment to the ongoing work taking place at the district and school levels to ensure that "we embrace the value of diversity and make all of our students and families feel welcome and included." Superintendent Clint Christopher closed the meeting with comments about the district's ongoing important equity work. Learn more and read their full comments HERE.

District Foundation names five Teacher of the Year finalists 
Bill Gilness - Chaska Middle School West
Nina Kirkman - Pioneer Ridge Middle School 
Mary Mobeck - Carver Elementary School 
Virginia Jackson - Chanhassen Elementary 
Justin Newman - Chaska Middle School East
   
The 2019 Teacher of the Year will be named at an awards banquet, Sunday, April 28, at Oak Ridge Conference Center. More info HERE
Community survey shows support for our schools   
The results of a scientific, random-sample phone survey of district residents and parents was shared at the March 18 School Board meeting.
A few highlights are listed below - read more HERE. 
  • 91% believe the quality of education provided by Eastern Carver County Schools is excellent or good.
  • Parents rate the district even higher - with 98% giving a rating of excellent or good.
  • The "most-liked" parts of the school district are: good teachers, variety of programs and excellent academics.
