Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft: Why Defend-ID Matters After the Change Healthcare Data Breach
Apr 3
Written By Emily Chagnon
At Woodside Financial Services, we’ve received many calls about the Change Healthcare data breach, which has affected approximately 190 million individuals—roughly 55.88% of the U.S. population. While Change Healthcare is offering free identity monitoring for two years, these services often don’t protect you if your personal data is misused for malicious purposes.
The breach exposed sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, medical records, and personal details, all of which are valuable to criminals. Basic identity monitoring may notify you of credit changes, but it doesn't protect against other forms of identity theft, such as medical or financial fraud.
That’s where Defend-ID comes in. Unlike basic monitoring, Defend-ID offers comprehensive protection, including:
- Full Identity Restoration: Assistance to restore your identity if it's stolen.
- Legal Support: Access to legal services for identity theft cases.
- Financial & Medical Protection: Coverage for fraud, including medical identity theft, which is critical after a healthcare breach like this one.
If you’ve been impacted by the Change Healthcare breach, or just want to ensure your identity is fully protected, we’re here to help. Contact us to learn more about Defend-ID and how it can provide peace of mind for you and your family.

Emily’s journey in insurance started back in 1999 when she earned her license fresh out of high school. Though she briefly explored the field, her heart led her to a career as a certified veterinary technician. After an incredible experience serving as a long-term missionary and teaching at a veterinary school in East Africa, Emily came back to the family business in 2019. She’s married to Pete, a passionate outdoorsman who shares her love for adventure and helping others. Emily loves connecting with clients and helping them navigate their insurance needs, finding great satisfaction in serving others. When she’s not working, she enjoys hanging out with friends, reading, and traveling to speak at veterinary and ministry conferences.

Good Afternoon Clintonville Area Chamber Members!
My name is Jake Gibson and I lead the business team at Cellcom here in the Fox Valley and Surrounding areas. Recently we at Cellcom have been doing some extensive work to build a solution that offers a dedicated priority data connection for vendors that process transactions with the use of the internet. We know the pain of a slow internet connection can be super frustrating…especially when trying to process a transaction. That’s exactly why we created Cellcom Prime.
This priority internet connection has been built with you in mind—whether you're running a food truck, managing a vendor booth, or selling merch at the next big event.
Here’s the deal:
-
No slowdowns, even during peak hours
-
Secure, seamless transactions – no more checkout chaos
-
Unlimited data, no contract – just $25/month
-
Works with what you already use: iPad, Android tablet, or broadband unit
- *If you don’t currently have equipment to process credit card payments we can help with some discounted options*
We’re calling it “draft ready” because it’s perfect for big event season—but it’s built for anyone who needs reliable, high-priority internet for point-of-sale transactions, any time of year.
✨ Bonus: Let us give you a custom quote on your current cellular service (smart phones, tablets watches & more), and we’ll give you 3 months of Cellcom Prime—free. No pressure, just an honest look at how we can help.
It’s local, it’s reliable, and it was crafted by people who actually get what it’s like to be in your shoes. If staying connected means more sales, smoother days, and fewer headaches—you deserve that.
I’d love to connect you with one of my business reps if you’re interested in hearing more.
Contact me via email to set up a time to discuss: Jacob.Gibson@Cellcom.com
