CAHIP Wins for Californians

Your efforts to oppose and educate on the harmful impacts the latest single payer proposal would have on Californians led to breaking news: AB 2200, legislation that would have mandated single payer in California is DEAD. The bill was held on the Assembly Appropriations Committee's Suspense File and as a result will not meet the constitutional deadline of May 17 to advance to the Floor and thus is defeated for this legislative and calendar year.

Also defeated was another CAHIP Key Bill, SB 1236 which would have significantly increased premiums for seniors on Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) thus reducing enrollment and risking insurer market withdrawal in California.

Thank you for your hard work and efforts to advocate for all Californians.
