Letter from CEO

Welcome back faculty and 10-month staff! We hope you had a truly restful and restorative summer. The start of the school year this year is a refreshing shift from the past three years in various ways as we are able to be in person together, faculty are preparing one classroom to teach in rather than two, and we have a simplified and focused schedule to offer our students.

After these three years of pandemic-era rapid fire learning and adaptations, we have proven that hybrid education not only works, but can be an equalizer of access to education for some in the communities we serve. This year will be another opportunity to examine how we best orient all of our talent and resources to supporting our mission and the students we exist to serve in today’s context and into the future.

This week and next are exciting and important times as all hands are on deck to enroll all DC residents who wish to study at our School, to increase our enrollment closer to pre-pandemic levels, and to prepare for a smooth welcome to our fall semester students.

See below for key information on how you can support our aims to enroll 2,000+ students this fall, foster a healthy and safe environment in our community, and stay well informed as we start the 2022/23 School year.

Fall 2022 Enrollment Update

As of yesterday, August 23, Carlos Rosario School has enrolled 1,885 charter students. Thank you to everyone who has supported our registration efforts! We still need your support for the next two days and must come together to ensure that every DC resident that walks through our doors leaves an enrolled student for the upcoming school year.

Please look at the schedule and check your assignments in the following document here. If you can not attend, please contact Jennifer Zoeller at  [email protected]In the schedule you can also find the instructions for each station. Please take a moment to read them through so that you understand what each station does specially on MAESTRO.

HELP NEEDED: We need additional support on placement testing, data entry and OSSE stations. We could also use some help in making calls to those that did not come although they won a lottery space. Please sign up to volunteer with registration.

Registration Reminders:

  • Be on time. Staff working the registration event are expected to arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start of the registration.

New Student Perspectives: Meet Rose and Sandra

Recently, Rose and Sandra completed their registration process at our Harvard Street Campus. They both are excited and ready to start the new School Year!

From DC, Rose is a former special education teacher, who completed her registration for our Culinary Arts Program. Her goal is to help teach those living with a disability how to cook and eat healthy.

Sandra is not new to our school, but she is coming back to earn her GED. To accomplish this, Sandra shared that she is counting on her GED instructors Elda Gonzalez and Sandra Gonzalez to give her the support she needs to reach her goal!
