Learn More About Non-Profits
at the Non-Profit Network Social
Culver City Councilman Jim Clarke has put together the  Culver City Non Profit Network Social for Tuesday, December 12 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at West Los Angeles College, Library, 4th floor.

This is a great opportunity for students, staff, parents, etc. to learn more about various non-profit organizations throughout Los Angeles. These organizations not only provide greater information about special-interests, they may provide more opportunities for volunteerism and potential internships.

Please RSVP to Vicky Nesia  nesiav@wlac.edu ASAP if you plan to attend. You need to RSVP to obtain a parking permit for Lot 5 and campus map to the Library.

The event's host is Dr. James Limbaugh, President of West Los Angeles College; and the event is co-hosted by the Culver City Exchange Club.
Culver City Ed Foundation Rally Day
The Culver City Education Foundation held a successful Rally Day on November 30 as part of its Annual Fundraising Campaign.

The event included student bands, cheerleaders and more focusing on CCEF's commitment to supporting education throughout the district and encouraging parents and community members to contribute to the effort.

Walk to School Programs Are Working
The numbers are in... so far this year we have had more than 1,200 students participate in walk-bike to school programs at our schools, tracking 2,000 trips to school without a car totaling more than 520 miles
walked or biked!

This is great news. The data tells us our students have:

  • Burned 20,872 calories
  • Removed 456 lbs of carbon from the atmosphere, and
  • Saved 23.7 gallons of gas!

Plus bike racks at both CCMS and CCHS are packed every day, and we are looking to add more! Keep up the walking and rolling CCUSD!

There are more opportunities to take advantage of CCUSD Walk-to-School Days, too ...

Meet up with classmates at your designated meet-up sites and walk, skate, scoot, or bike to school! Don't forget to get your shoe tag or student ID card (CCMS)!

Meet-Up Spots - Start at the meetups or join along the way. Visit each school's page for maps and details.

Farragut: December 13 Meet @ Veteran's Park (near the tennis courts) or Lindberg Park by the Stonehouse.

La Ballona: Every Wednesday this month Meet at Telefson Park by 8:10 am.

Linwood Howe: Every Friday! Meet at either Carlson Park or at the intersection of Carson & Ince at 8:10 am.

CCMS: December 21 - Third Thursdays of every month.

Walk or bike at least 3 blocks to school, get scanned for raffle prizes. Grand prize is a new bike from Pure Cycles! Scanners are in place by 7 a.m. in front of school, at the bike racks, and the bridge in Lindberg Park.

KEEP WALKING AND ROLLING TO SCHOOL!
