Tax Revenues to Stay in Culver City
On November 14, 2017, the City completed a refinancing of outstanding bonds of the former Redevelopment Agency. Due to a favorable rating of AA- on the new bonds, they will generate approximately $33 million in total savings over the next 11 years. Nearly $12 million of these savings will stay directly in Culver City, with approximately $4.3 million going to the City and approximately $7.6 million going to the Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD). The remaining savings will flow to other local taxing jurisdictions, primarily the County of Los Angeles.

“It is not everyday that Culver City can generate nearly $12 million in tax dollars that will stay locally in Culver City instead of being paid as debt service. The majority of the funds CCUSD will receive will benefit our youth. The remaining monies will pass through to the unrestricted General Fund,” said Culver City Mayor Jeffrey Cooper.

“We are thrilled to hear about the additional funds that will be infused into CCUSD as a result of the City refinancing its bond obligations,” says CCUSD Interim Superintendent Leslie Lockhart. “This is a considerable amount of money that will help the District make even further improvements to our school site facilities and infrastructure. We are grateful to the City for doing the work that led to these financial dividends, all of which will directly benefit our CCUSD students, teachers and families.”
