HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Everyone in the CCUSD Family wishes you and yours a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Since this is the time when we reflect on all the things for which we are thankful, here's some of what we're thankful for ...
Championship Dreams ...

For only the third time in school history, Culver City High School's football team has reached the CIF Championship game.

The Centaurs (11-2) defeated previously top-ranked Northview High, 40-14, in the Division VII semi-finals and will travel to the desert to take on San Jacinto (12-1) on Saturday, November 24 at 7 p.m. for the CIF Southern Section Championship.

Perfect Scores ...

Culver City High School's Cooper Komatsu scored a perfect 1600 on the SAT!!

His parents, Deborah and Robert Komatsu, are obviously thrilled. Cooper, a three-year member of the Centaurs' cross-country team, was also front and center on a recent HBO piece on Youth and Mental Sports for Real Sports where he talked about his experience as a Japanese Immersion student, champion speller and more.

Cooper is no stranger to finishing on top – he is a national Scrabble champion and a two-time winner of the CCUSD Spelling Bee, who represented Culver City in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, finishing ninth in 2016.

Congratulations, Cooper!
Our Senior Citizens ...

One of Linwood E. Howe's first-grade classes took a very special field trip recently.

Ms. Burns' class visited Studio Royale, a senior living facility in Culver City, to spend time with the residents there, playing bingo, getting to know each other, and learning the value of bringing a smile to someone's face. The connections these students and seniors made were truly heartwarming.

Thanks to Culver CityBus, these first-graders had the privilege of riding public transportation FOR FREE to get there and back!
The students loved the adventure of navigating the bus system, and they each received their own TAP card and Culver City Bus swag bag.

Thank you, Dia Turner of the Culver City Transportation Department, for making the trip a success!
Quick Feet ...

Culver City's cross-country athletes excelled in the recent CIF finals.

Sophomore Mieke Hesseling ran the second-best time of her career: 18:39.6 surpassed only by her time in the CIF prelims last year of 18:38.9. Junior Lindsey Kojima also ran well, finishing at 19:13.3 and setting a new personal best by 20.4 seconds.
