Superintendent's Message

Dear Families and Community,

What an exciting first week of school! I had the opportunity to visit all of our schools this week including the Back to School Night at the Adult School, and the energy across our campuses and inside our classrooms was incredible! I especially enjoyed speaking with students in several of the classrooms I visited and sharing a little about the work I do as their Superintendent. Our students took a genuine interest in learning more about my role and the work we do across the district to support them. What a great way to begin the 2026–2027 school year!

I am also pleased to share that our enrollment is currently 6,615 students, which is encouraging as we begin the year. We still have approximately 91 students who have not yet reported to school, and based on our current numbers, we anticipate that our overall enrollment will likely remain stable, great news as enrollment has a direct impact on our district's budget and resources.

We have another reason to celebrate! Culver City High School was recently ranked #61 among high schools in the Los Angeles Metro area by U.S. News & World Report and ranked #129 in California high schools, and #839 in national rankings, earning an impressive scorecard of 95.32. There were 2,747 high schools evaluated in the rankings in California and 27,000 high schools in the nation, respectively. Our rankings have improved each of the last three years. This new ranking places CCHS alongside some of the area's highly regarded high schools with scores as follows: Beverly Hills (87.83), El Segundo (96.54), Hamilton (75.10), Mira Costa (95.36), Redondo Union (95.47), Santa Monica (96.87), and Venice (90.46). This recognition is another testament to the high-quality teaching and learning taking place at CCHS and throughout our district.

Congratulations to our students, teachers, staff, administrators, families, and entire CCHS community on this outstanding achievement!

Our next Regular Board of Education Meeting will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Please review the posted agenda for the items that will be considered by the Board. I also want our community to know that when emails are sent to me or members of the Board regarding specific agenda items, we may not always be able to personally respond due to the high volume of correspondence we receive. Please know, however, that we do read your emails and value the input and perspectives shared with us. We appreciate your understanding.

As always, we recognize that families have choices when it comes to their child's education, and we are grateful that you have entrusted us with serving your students. We remain committed to providing a high-quality educational experience and to partnering with you every step of the way.

We are off to a great 2026–2027 school year. Let's keep the momentum going!

With Gratitude,

Dr. Alfonso Jiménez

Superintendent

Estimadas Familias y Comunidad,

News & World Report.

Superintendente

Join CCEF's 2026-27 Annual Campaign

The Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF) is proud to begin the 2026–27 school year with a pledge of $1 million in funding for CCUSD students and schools - made possible by the generosity of families, donors, and community partners.

This year, CCEF funding will support programs and resources reaching all students across the district, including Creative Arts, STEM Learning, Student Wellness, Classroom Resources, and College & Career Readiness.

As the school year begins, so does CCEF's 2026–27 Annual Campaign. To continue making investments like these possible, the Ed Foundation needs the support of families across our district.

CCEF invites every CCUSD family to make a gift to CCEF this school year.

CCEF's suggested contribution is $750 per student or $75 per month, but every gift - at every level - helps strengthen opportunities for students across our schools.

The more families that participate, the more we can invest in our students.

Make your 2026–27 Annual Campaign gift today, and learn more about the impact of your gift on the CCEF website.

Wende Museum to Hold Immersive Concert Series on August 27

This summer, Emersion Music will present CURRENTS, an immersive concert series bringing together film and concert composers, live chamber strings, and piano, in two very different Los Angeles settings.

This year’s lineup features original works by Emer Kinsella, Vivek Maddala, Layla Minoui, Duncan Thum, Amit May Cohen, Zack & Niki Hexum, and Yuichiro Oku, with live performances by the Emersion Ensemble.

Inspired by the Wende Museum’s connection to transformation and turning points, CURRENTS explores how history moves like water: carrying memory, changing shape, and replenishing what comes next.

Add Your Feedback to Culver City's Cultural Equity Plan

The Community Cultural Equity Plan will be Culver City’s first integrated, long-range strategy for arts, culture, public art, and the creative economy. Developed throughout 2026 and 2027, the plan will guide cultural investment, programming, and public art commissioning for the next decade.

Community input will be central to the process through pop-up events, focus groups, surveys, and public input sessions.

The plan will focus on four key areas:

• Community Engagement

• Public Art

• Sustainable Funding

• Creative Economy

Led by the City’s Cultural Affairs Division, the plan is being developed in partnership with CVL Economics, MIG, the Cultural Affairs Commission, City staff, and the community.

Engage with culture and help shape a more creative, inclusive, and connected Culver City. Provide your feedback here: Culver City Cultural Plan

Fiesta La Ballona Will Be Here Soon!

Fiesta La Ballona was first held in 1951, and it was born from a partnership between the City of Culver City and the Culver City Chamber of Commerce. What began as a weeklong celebration of Culver City’s early heritage has grown into one of the City’s most treasured community traditions.

From its earliest days, Fiesta was designed as a celebration for the entire community, bringing together residents, families, performers, athletes, and visitors. Over the decades, the celebration has evolved. It has been held in different months, taken on new themes, and grown into a true “Festival of the People.” But no matter the year, the season, or the number of days, Fiesta has remained a time for the community to come together, relax, celebrate, and enjoy family, friends, and neighbors.

Now, Fiesta La Ballona Celebrates 75 Years with a new specialized logo to honor this milestone. The logo was created by design artist Tamara Gould.

Fiesta wristbands are now on sale HERE.

Safe Routes to School Update ...

Welcome back CCUSD families. One week under your belt. Congratulations.

You have probably noticed that congestion is challenging in front of our schools. If you are able to walk, bike, carpool or use transit, please do so. If you must drive, please park three blocks away and walk the rest, clearing space for those who have less options. To help you plan, visit the Walk 'n Rollers' Schools web page for recommended routes to school maps for each school. Each school has its own map like the sample shown here.

And for those that need to drive to school, please obey all traffic rules and especially stopping at all stop signs. Nearly half our kids walk or bike to school so there are lots of them out there. Stop, look and yield. You might notice these signs around your school as a friendly reminder that our kids' safety is paramount.

Saturday, September 20: Walk 'n Rollers' annual Walk & Roll Festival is back. Walk 'n Rollers be at Culver City Middle School with bike skills for the whole family, bike repair, free gifts, and more.
