Dear Families and Community,
It was another great week in Culver City Unified School District! As we continue settling into the new school year, I am pleased to see our students engaged in learning, our staff creating welcoming classrooms, and our families actively participating in our schools. We are off to a strong start to the 2026–2027 school year!
This week, I was pleased to provide a welcome address at the AVPA Parent Meeting, where we had a great turnout of students and families learning about the program and its requirements. I also visited our preschool classrooms at the Office of Child Development (OCD) and observed our students joyfully learning in developmentally appropriate activities. I also had the opportunity to visit with our Food Services workers who were actively preparing meals for our students. I appreciate the work of our team to provide nutritious meals to our students. I also observed our students learning in their science classrooms at Culver City Middle School and found our students engaged in meaningful team building activities through science content. From our youngest learners to our older students, it was wonderful to see active engagement and learning across our district.
We also have exciting news to celebrate! Four of our elementary schools recently received Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Awards: Linwood E. Howe Elementary School earned Platinum, El Rincon and Farragut Elementary Schools earned Gold, and El Marino Language Academy earned Silver. Congratulations to our students, teachers, staff, administration, families, and school communities on this outstanding recognition!

For those who were unable to attend Tuesday's Board meeting, I have shared highlights from my Superintendent's Report on Instagram at @dr.alfonsojimenez1. I also attended a portion of our Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) meeting for Measure E and am thankful for our committee members for volunteering their time and providing important community oversight. Additional Measure E information is available on the Business Services section of our district website. Once there, if you connect with the TELACU Construction Management Measure E Weekly Updates link, you can read about the weekly progress of our bond program week by week.
Finally, it's opening night for our Centaurs! We wish our student-athletes and all of the students participating in Friday night's activities a great evening. Come out, show your Culver Pride, and support our Centaurs! Also, it's Fiesta La Ballona time and we look forward to engaging with our community. Please stop by our booth on Saturday or Sunday.
As always, we recognize that families have choices when it comes to their child's education, and we are grateful that you have entrusted us with serving your students. We remain committed to providing a high-quality educational experience and to partnering with you every step of the way.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
With Gratitude,
Dr. Alfonso Jiménez
Superintendent

Estimadas Familias y Comunidad,

| | | Safe Routes to School Update ... | | |
As school is back, so is the traffic congestion around our schools. To help create a safer, healthier school community, we ask parents to drive less and walk, bike, carpool and use transit more. And for those who must drive, please slow down and yield to pedestrians and obey all traffic rules. You may have noticed new messaging around the schools, reminding drivers that stop signs are not suggestions. Please slow down, stop and look for our most vulnerable citizens.
