This Sunday, May 4th we welcome back The Reverend David Antonson, and his wife Judy, as part of our Guest Pastor series celebrating Northmont's 100th Anniversary. We hope you can join us for this special Sunday occasion. | |
Judy and David (and their four sons) came to Northmont in the spring of 1985 from Grosse Pointe Memorial Presbyterian Church in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. Paul Fitting was the chair of the seven-person search committee. David left Northmont effective February 1, 2006, with the new title "HR." In Pittsburgh Presbytery, he then served First Presbyterian of Bakerstown as Interim Pastor, then Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville as interim pastor, then Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Hills as Interim Pastor and Shadyside Presbyterian Church, in Shadyside as Interim Pastor. He and Judy moved from the North Hills in July 2018 to Lincoln, CA.
Judy and David were both born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota (in the same hospital, a month apart!) and are graduates of the University of Minnesota - Duluth. David is a graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA and McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL. They have four sons (Stephen, Philip, James and Paul). All are married and each has two children, thus eight grandchildren (five girls and three boys). Their youngest son, Paul, lives near them in Sacramento, CA. David has served a total of nine congregations in five states: Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Pennsylvania and now California. Five congregations were as installed pastor, and four congregations in his so-called "retirement" as interim pastor. Judy is a retired teacher. They live January through March at their home in Venture Out Resort, Mesa, AZ and the other nine months in California. He preaches at two resorts in Arizona and handles considerable preaching throughout northern California for North Central California Presbytery. When not serving other churches, David and Judy make their home at Carmichael Presbyterian Church, Carmichael, CA.

GREAT NEWS! We have a beautiful, finished parking lot!
All that remains is to finish paying for it. Can you help?
Many thanks to those who have given already.
Prayers and anticipation for additional contributions

Sunday Jesus gives the disciples fishing tips and feeds them fish as well as telling them to feed lambs and tend sheep. Our guest preacher, Dave Antonson, has brought two great hymn texts to us that highlight this fish metaphor. Both are sung to familiar tunes and tie in very nicely with our centennial theme.
The choir sings anthems from Canada, England, the USA, and the Netherlands. It should be a festive celebration as we welcome a former pastor, celebrate our 100th anniversary, and bask in the glow of resurrection joy.
Easter lasts for 50 days until Pentecost (see the allusion to “five” in the name?). The season occupies roughly one-seventh of the year, so the saying is, “As Sunday is to the week, Easter is to the year.” Every Sunday is a little Easter and the Easter season is a prolonged celebration of the joy of the resurrection. Alleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord is risen, indeed! Alleluia!
