Thanksgiving Baskets for Needy Families
The Missions Team delivered 16 very generous Thanksgiving baskets to needy families at Pine Grove Elementary School. Our efforts to help these struggling families were much appreciated by them and the school.
Reminder from Stewardship / Budget Team

We began working on the budget for 2020 in September. Included in the preparation are expenses and income for the upcoming year.

To date we have received 49 expected giving/pledge cards that amount to almost half of what is required.

If we have a card from you, thank you. If not, there is still time and we need participation by everybody to make 2020 a great year at SHUCC.
Richard Ives
Thank you!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my gratitude and thanks for the surprise Pastor Appreciation moment on October 27. I was truly surprised and overwhelmed by your kind words, cards and thoughtful gifts. It is truly a privilege to serve as your pastor.

I love you all.
Pastor Robin
We have concluded our book study for 2019. We will resume again in January. We will be discussing the book,
"Beautiful Ruins" by Jess Walter.
We meet the third Tuesday of the month in the conference room of the sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. If you haven’t participated yet, please consider doing so. We have lively and sometimes poignant discussions depending on the read.
All are welcome!

THE GIVING TREE PROJECT

The Missions Team will be supporting 25 needy children at Pine Grove Elementary School with Christmas gifts this year. That means a total of 50 gifts. A tree is in the back of the church. White tags will have clothing suggestions, and red tags will have toy suggestions.

Tags will include the name, age, gender, sizes, and giving ideas for each child. Please choose a tag or tags and purchase the suggested gift or gifts.

If you purchase a toy, please leave it in the box, wrap it with wrapping paper, and attach the tag from the tree to the outside of the package using scotch tape.

If you purchase clothing, please remove the entire store tag from the gift and place it in a GIFT BAG (not box). Then attach the tag from the tree to the outside of the gift bag using scotch tape. Leave shoes in their box, wrap with wrapping paper, and attach the tag from the tree to the outside of the box using scotch tape. Please do not include the gift receipts.

Please make certain that you let us know which child you have selected by FILLING OUT THE SIGN-UP SHEET ON THE CLIPBOARD BY THE TREE. A list of instructions will be available by the sign-out sheet for your convenience. A member of the Missions Team will be near the tree to assist you in signing out your gift tags. If you are unable to go shopping, they will also receive your donations (whether large or small) and shop for you. Whatever you can donate is appreciated.

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR NAME OFF ON THE SIGN-UP SHEET WHEN YOU HAVE RETURNED YOUR GIFTS.

RETURN YOUR GIFTS TO THE CHURCH BY SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8th.

We had most of the gift tags taken from the tree last year, and we feel confident that this will happen again this year. Thank you in advance for what you consistently do for these children. You are the best!

If you have any questions, please call Sharron Herzog at 352-596-2551.

Missions Update for October and November: Your Missions Team has been very busy! In addition to our regular monthly donations of $175 to Our Churches Wider Mission, $100 to Habitat For Humanity, $100 to Back Bay Mission, and $100 to the Crescent Community Clinic, we made an additional $100 donation to Back Bay Mission to help struggling businesses and individuals in their area who are dealing with recovering from local natural disasters. $500 was also donated to Neighbors in Need from Missions Funds. This is one of our 5 for 5 offerings to the UCC. A $500 donation from Missions Funds was sent to HPH Hospice Camp Reach Out 2020 which serves bereaved children in Hernando, Citrus, and Pasco counties. All of these donations are made possible through your pledges and offerings.
