Sanctuary Re-Opening
this coming Sunday,
November 21, 2021
10:00 a.m.
Come celebrate with us!
Followed by a light luncheon
in Fellowship hall.
Joy is defined as the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something good.
As we move toward this Sunday our hearts are filled with joy. We have spent almost three years to get here. It’s a great lesson about faith. With prayer all things are possible, and we have done it. The sanctuary is almost reassembled, many helped clean inside and out, the hymnals and Bibles have been cleaned, the 85” TVs were hung, the sound system was reassembled and much of the furniture from Fellowship Hall has been moved back to the sanctuary. The only thing missing is you, so please come and join us for our Sunday Service and pot-luck lunch facilitated by the Hospitality Ministry. This Sunday Rev. Donna and Chance will be our pulpit supply.  We will also have communion and we have a special message from Rev. Leslie Etheredge, Associate Conference Minister, FL Conference, United Church of Christ which will be played during the service.
When you enter the Narthex look up at the beautiful chandelier Jerry Thomas gifted to us. After entering look right and see the Thomas Kinkaid painting donated by Tom St Clair. Other good news; we replaced the outside door in the kitchen in Fellowship Hall and fixed the soffit that was falling. All of this was done within budget. And, as you are reading this the Fellowship Hall rug is being cleaned. A special THANK YOU goes to all the people who have been making the campus look nice.

Enough of all the joy, we have other things to report. We have received donations towards our new air conditioner and should be able to have the old one replaced soon.

For those of you who may not know Chance has applied to become a Lay Minister and after all the needed material has been submitted Chance will officially become a Lay Minister. We will talk about it in the next few weeks.

A very important notice: a large number of people will be leaving the Council as their terms have ended. If you would like to head up a ministry team, become the FINANCIAL SECRETARY, TREASURER, or be an alternate on the Search Committee please let me know. The final draft of the Budget for 2022 should be ready for your review soon.

What happens in 17 days? The Christmas Bazaar and Cookie Walk. We still need baskets or just bring in the items and our craft person will make a basket out of it. We still could use more gift cards and we have a list of companies that have given in the past, Especially needed is someone to donate homemade soup and egg, ham or tuna salad for sandwiches and baked goods to sell individually or on the Bake Sale table.  We still can use people for all kind of things for the Bazaar. Please see Lynda Spaulding. We will need baked cookies and cookies and cookies. People just love them. They buy them by the pound, but note-we are not responsible for any pounds you may gain. They also need help so if you can help please let Ron and Trish Phillips know. A new addition to the Bazaar this year will be the Men’s Club raffle of a 65 inch TV. This TV could be yours if you are the lucky winner. Tickets are 12 for $10.00. For advanced tickets see any member of the Men’s Club.

See you all Sunday and be sure to sign the thank you card for Grace Construction which Marty Hodgkins will have.
Blessings to all,
To promote a smoother flow to Sunday Morning services, there is a slight change in the way we will be doing announcements. With rare exceptions, announcements will be made by the person leading the service each week rather than having multiple people make individual announcements. With that in mind, beginning this week, if you have an announcement that you would like to be made on Sunday, please send the wording and details of the announcement to either the church office (shuccoffice@gmail.com) or to Chance (shucc.mid@gmail.com) by Noon on the Friday before you want the announcement made. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Hello Beloved Community!

This Sunday is a very big Sunday at SHUCC. We will be celebrating the grand re-opening of our sanctuary and we will also be recommitting ourselves to the ministry that God has called us to as a faith community. COVID and building issues have really taken a toll on all of us, but God has provided for us, so let’s celebrate that! Following the services this Sunday we will be having a potluck meal and many people have volunteered to help with this. Thank you to everyone who is providing food for the potluck meal.

I also want to thank all of you that have volunteered over the past couple of weeks to clean the inside and the outside of the sanctuary building, helped to move furniture, cleaned hymnals and bibles, etc. You have given generously of your time, and we are so thankful for you.

I would like to thank Tom St. Clair for donating the beautiful Thomas Kinkade painting that you will see hanging in the lobby as you enter the sanctuary. I want to thank Jerry Thomas for his generous gift of the chandelier that you will see hanging in the lobby as you enter. Finally, and certainly not least, I would like to thank Henry Browning for all the work that he has done to trim the trees in the parking lot. They look amazing!

This is an exciting time for SHUCC and you will start to see some new things over the next few weeks. Some of them are already in place. We have two smart TVs in the sanctuary that will be used instead of a projector during worship. These also have the capability to provide an outlet for us to show movies or documentaries if we would like to host community events. A new welcome table will be coming soon, and it will be in a prominent place in the lobby area so that our first-time guest will see it when they first walk in. Speaking of first-time guest, starting this Sunday we will be having what I call “SHUCC in Five” where first time guest will be asked to come to the front of the sanctuary after services for a quick five-minute overview of the ministries of SHUCC. It is so important that our first-time guest hear about who we are and what we are about, and this is one way we can do that. I, along with a volunteer, will lead this each week and there will be a script, so you don’t have to remember everything. If you would like to help with that on some weeks, please let me know and I will add you to the rotation.

I am really looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is anything that I can do for you. You may reach me by email (shucc.mid@gmail.com) or by phone (727-809-2390). Love ya…mean it!
The Giving Tree Project
The Mission Ministry Team is supporting The Giving Tree Project at Spring Hill Elementary School this holiday season. On Sunday, November 28, a Giving Tree will be set up in the narthex with gift tags for 20 children who have been identified by the school’s administrative team to receive a gift of clothing which will include an outfit of shirt and pants/skirt (not school uniform), shoes, and pajamas. In addition, each child will indicate 2 wish-list items.
Tags include the name, age, gender, and giving ideas for each child. You are invited to select a tag or tags, purchase the suggested items, and return the gifts to the narthex by Sunday, December 12.
Members of the Mission Team will be present on Sundays to assist you in the process of selecting a name(s) and filling out the sign-up sheet. They will also be available each Sunday to receive your gifts and make sure all gifts are properly tagged.
If you are unable to purchase the items yourself, members of the Mission Team will be happy to accept your financial donation and shop for you!
If you have any questions, please call Cindy Cannioto at 352-683-5246 or Marty Hodgkins at 302-981-6347.
