With nearly 40 million listeners worldwide, Radio France Internationale – RFI, is a French news radio station, broadcasted in 14 languages worldwide. It benefits from the expertise of its editorial offices based in Paris and its unique network of 400 correspondents on 5 continents.

Our partnership and relationship with RFI continue to be an integral component of Pot-Pourri Show programming, with frequent exchanges on relevant topics of interest expressed by our listeners and other partners.

With increased competition and challenges in Africa and the Americas, RFI is constantly looking at innovative ways to expand its presence worldwide using, for example, signal relaying of RFI or partnerships between radio stations such as the one we've formed with RFI.

Must listen: Paradise Blue by Bill King
From Bill King:

"With Paradise Blue I explore the range of emotions, the many shades of the colour blue. Six of twelve tracks - improvised. The blues, a touch of classical and the accidental improvisational curves of jazz."

"Paradise Blue is the piano talking back at me. That light in the head momentarily eclipsed, hands in receipt of inspiration. Junctures of sweeping colour and others of blue intent. Fingers jabbing and prying at the space between black and white notes, the overtones, the undertones, wedged between the crevices. A solitary moment where melody and harmony linger beyond invitation."

Listen and purchase the full album via Bandcamp.

Bonnie Trash album release party for Halloween
Halloween heavyosity is on the menu on October 28th at Wavelength, with the long-awaited album launch party for Bonnie Trash. With Malocchio, their debut LP for acclaimed Hand Drawn Dracula Records, the Guelph, Ontario twin-sister duo have created a contender for album of the year.

Malocchio unspools a real-life horror story based on the stories told to them by their Italian grandmother. Over heavy, hypnotic riffs, pounding drums, and spooky soundscapes, the lyrics pull the listener into the meaning of the “evil eye,” a hex of malice onto another.

This POV documentary follows filmmaker Teresa Alfeld as she uncovers the story of her childhood best friend’s dad: Doug Bennett, leader of the legendary 1980s Canadian party band Doug and the Slugs. Growing up in East Vancouver in the 1990s, Teresa knew that her best friend Shea's goofy father Doug was in a band. In 2004, long after she and Shea had lost touch, she was shocked to learn of Doug’s sudden death at age 52. Now a documentary filmmaker, Teresa pieces together just how Doug and the Slugs shot from Vancouver cult sensation to national fame. Peppered with Slugs' deep cuts and fascinating archival footage of early-80s Vancouver, this inspiring film is a who’s who of Canadian musicians and industry insiders, including Bif Naked, Steven Page, and Ed the Sock.

With the help of their mentor, controversial pop star and activist Aryana Sayeed, they’re determined to win the show and become national singing sensations—but their lives are turned upside down when the Taliban return to power, reversing 20 years of progress for women’s rights in the blink of an eye. And Still I Sing is a captivating portrait of three women fighting for a better future and a chilling reminder of the fragility of human rights under totalitarianism.
