2026 STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

Thank you to all who have submitted their pledges to Northmont for 2026. Thus far we have received 53 pledges for 2026 which total $242,971 including 2 pre-paid pledges which have already been received.

For comparison, we received 53 total pledges for 2025 that totaled $243,686. We have some additional pledges we may expect to receive for 2026. In addition, Northmont receives a significant amount in donations each year for which no pledge is made.

It would be very helpful if you plan to donate to Northmont in 2026 if you would consider a pledge. Please mail or drop off your 2026 pledge card in the church office as soon as possible, so the Stewardship and Finance Committee and Session can finalize a 2026 budget in December. Thank you.

Clef Notes

Music Director, Stephen Schall

stephen@northmontchurch.org

A new season is upon us: Advent. It’s the shortest of the liturgical year — only four weeks — and it conveys many important themes. Sadly, it often is turned into a means of elongating or extending Christmas. This is unfortunate, as Advent has its own character: joyful expectation.

This week our handbells will play the prelude. We’ll have a chance to hear them again on Christmas Eve. Chancel Choir sings one of its favorite motets, “E’en So, Lord Jesus, Quickly Come.” This beautiful piece by American composer, Paul Manz, is famous throughout the world and for good reason.

We hope you will plan to arrive early on Christmas Eve to hear bells, choir, and soloists performing the music of the season. The prelude will begin at 2:45. Most of this year’s choral music is unaccompanied carols, many of which will be familiar to you. It is sure to be a beautiful celebration of our Lord’s birth. Come, Lord Jesus!

BILL MARKUS RETURNS IN DECEMBER

December always brings us the great joy of anticipating and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. For many years now, December has also brought us the pleasure of hearing our good friend, Bill Markus, speak on topics of current interest and concern. We will continue that tradition this year.

Bill joins us this Sunday, December 14, from 8:45 to 9:45, in Polley Fellowship Hall to speak on the topic of “Venezuela and the USA Today.” We hope you'll be able to join us.
