This Sunday, April 6, we welcome
the Reverend Alick Kennedy, who will kick off our 100th year anniversary Guest Preacher Series.
Alick served as the pastor of neighboring Heritage Presbyterian for many years, and has worshipped here with us in his retirement. He has served Northmont as Pastor Emeritus, in Stephen Ministry,
on the Memorial Committee, and as a teacher.
We are honored to have him begin this special series. Please plan on joining us!

Last names A-K, bring a side dish.
Last names L-Z, bring a dessert.
Please RSVP below so we can plan accordingly for the main dish.

As we continue to celebrate Northmont’s 100th,
the Anniversary Committee is asking for your help.
We are gathering information from all our congregation members on what group(s) or committee(s) you have participated in over the years and are currently in (for example, Deacons, Session, handbell or vocal choir, Presbyterian Women, Sunday school teacher, and the like). We know for many of you, there are quite a few!
Please email Kathy Dobson at mkdobson4@gmail.com and include all committees and groups you’ve been a part of and include a short description of what you did or what your responsibilities were in each position.
If you prefer, you can fill out a form that will be included in the Sunday bulletin, or pick up a copy in the library.
Please return the completed forms by May 1.
Thank you, in advance, for helping with this portion of the celebration!

This Sunday the choir sings two staples of the choral canon, one austere and haunting, the other lush and opulent. The offertory anthem is famed American choral icon, F. Melius Christiansen’s, “Beautiful Savior.” Christiansen was a Norwegian violinist and composer who founded the St. Olaf Choir. Chritiansen arranged many beloved tunes, but this one, using the tune CRUSADER’S HYMN, is a standard. The communion motet is English Renaissance composer William Byrd’s setting of “Ave verum corpus.” Byrd was a devout Roman Catholic, who lived through the English Reformation without renouncing his faith. His mastery of his art is clear in this musical gem, which seems to evoke reverence for the mystery of Christ, present in the sacrament, and heartfelt penitence in the text’s cries for mercy.
Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the Good Friday Tenebrae service at 7:30, April 18. Members of the Wexford choir will join us that night. Ben will preach, but the rest of the service is musical. This quiet, shadowy, and somber service consists of chanted portions of the book of Lamentations, several responsorial Psalms, two beautiful motets, and two congregational hymns. It’s an opportunity for candle-lit quiet time and deep reflection, as well as great beauty, in preparation for the resurrection joy of Easter morning.
| The Northmont Dining Out Group will gather Monday, April 21 at 6:30 at Monte Cello's in Wexford. All are invited to join! | Click the picture to learn more about each ministry. | | |
