Youth@Synod

The United Church of Christ General Synod will take place in Indianapolis, IN on June 30 to July 4, 2023. Rev. Trayce Potter of the National staff is organizing special programming for Youth @ Synod for high schoolers ages 14-18.

Teens from all over the country will participate in worship, attend plenary sessions and hearings, and observe the resolution process in action. Youth @ Synod is a wonderful opportunity to engage in justice issues and nurture advocacy skills. Please share this opportunity with youth in your congregation so that we can help to plan the logistics. Anyone who is interested should please contact Diane Tinkham dtinkham@nhcucc.org by March 22.

Picture the Bible - An Approach, Not a Curriculum

Picture the Bible is an approach to Bible study; it is not a curriculum in the traditional sense. It is designed to engage learners and leaders in conversation, everyone learning from each other. To encourage and guide discussions, Conversation Pages include a great variety of ideas, images, art, questions, information, and background that bring together the Bible and people lives. Picture the Bible seeks to occupy the intersection of the Bible and peoples’ lives in God’s world. Picture the Bible is a set of 52 images depicting 52 individual Bible stories.

Build Relationships, Change Lives

CityReach-Boston is an overnight urban outreach program begun in March 1996 for youth (with accompanying adults), young adults, and college students from churches of any denomination. The program gives these young people the opportunity to learn first-hand about homelessness from people who have experienced it. During the 20-hour session, participants join CityReach staff in street ministry and offer hospitality, food and clothing. This is followed by times of sharing and reflection.

Go to Common Cathedral - City Reach to learn how your group can participate!

My Queer Faith Tour - Winter/Spring 2023

Kimayo continues her “My Queer Faith tour”, reaching out to open and affirming faith communities, regardless of religion. This tour was birthed out of three core desires:

  • To introduce faith-based safe spaces to a broader LGBTQIA+ community
  • To emphasize the need for and value of what Open & Affirming faith communities such as yours already provide for the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • To provide connections with Open & Affirming faith communities as Kimayo continues her own faith journey.

Kimayo has created a one-hour, donation-based concert and story-telling event during which she invites congregations into her life and faith journey. Following the concert, she provides an opportunity for further discussion and exploration. Enjoy listening to Kimayo's "Something Real" Video. Kimayo’s concerts are open to adults and mature teens with parental discretion as this event contains sensitive topics relating to physical and mental health. Go to KimayoMusic.com for more songs and music.
