I am pleased to announce that Dante Albertie has been appointed as Executive Director of Performing Arts and Event Venues, which includes the role of Executive Director of the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, a role he has held as an Interim since March.  

Mr. Albertie has been with Lehman College for more than 20 years, coming to the College in 2003 after working as artistic director and co-founder of the (“much loved”-NYT) Belmont Playhouse in the Bronx.  

He is the Founder and Director of Lehman Stages, which has grown to serve more than 70,000 people annually through space rentals, production services, artistic programming, and special events like The Kids Rule Weekend, Movies Under a Bronx Moon, and The Bronx Shakespeare Festival (BronxShakes).  

Building relationships is at the core of Albertie’s mission, “I want to enhance the spirit of collaboration between the Center for the Performing Arts and the College community. I also want to nurture the bond the Center enjoys with the Latino community, while diversifying the artistic programming to truly reflect The Bronx and all its people.”  

Albertie earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from Purchase College of the State University of New York.  

As a freelance theatre director, Mr. Albertie has worked with UbU Rep, E.S.T, Cherry Lane Alternative, Theater for the New City, Seven Angels Theatre, Henry Street Settlement, Naked Angels Theater Company (Shyster, starring Fisher Stevens, Annabella Sciorra and Phyllis Newman), and the world premiere of Yardbird by Stephanie Stowe, with Chris Cole, Lisa Sheridan and Marilyn Sokol for the Bronx Stage & Film Company at the Bank Street Theatre.  

Mr. Albertie has served as a panelist for the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Bronx Council on the Arts (BRIO Awards) among others. Mr. Albertie was honored for his dedication to the cultural life of the Bronx by the Bronx Arts Ensemble and The Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
