Season's Greetings
It’s hard to believe that 2020 is almost here. As we hustle about the month of December finishing with shopping, decorating and preparing for a festive holiday season, let’s pause to remember all of the blessings that life has bestowed upon us. A special thank you to everyone who has contributed so much to make the Transplant Life Foundation successful. It’s not just about the dollars (although the dollars are important), but about the time and energy that many of you put forth to help keep organ, eye, and tissue donation in the news.
So, however you celebrate the holiday season, may your days be filled with joy and laughter, and your home and hearth be warm with the love of family and friends.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Transplant Life Foundation.

Competition Information
Leading up to the Transplant Games in July 2020, we will be featuring one to two sports in the newsletter. Our goal will be to highlight important rules, provide updates on any changes to the format, as well as increase interest in the competition. When registering for the Games, be sure to review each of the sports you will be participating in for final decisions on competition rules.
Track and Field
The Track and Field competition at the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games will take place at Riggins Memorial Field in East Rutherford, NJ on Monday, July 20. Track and Field is the TGA competition with the highest participation rate, with 500 plus athletes. Racing and cheering on family, friends and other athletes in a total of 38 individual events (encompassing men, women and youth), makes for a tiring, yet inspirational day at the track and really highlights personal successes post-transplant.
There will be no major changes made to the Track and Field competition, but TGA will ensure that there is an adequate scoring system in place to process results and that the medal presentations are properly executed.

TGA Flag Tour
The 2020 Transplant Games Flag Tour will launch in February!
The Transplant Games flag tour is similar to the Olympic torch being carried from venue to venue prior to the official games. Leading up to the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games taking place in Northern New Jersey July 17-22, the flag will be visiting various locations throughout New Jersey and New York to raise awareness of organ, eye and tissue donation. In addition to the host city, the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games flag will travel around the United States playing a role in various TGA state team events. The flag tour helps build momentum for the upcoming Games as TGA teams across the country celebrate the mission, build awareness of their local teams, and sign up new donors to the state and national registries. The flag tour is an important kickoff to the Transplant Games. It brings together the TGA team members and their communities in anticipation of the Games.
“This event is a great way for us to raise awareness of the need for more organ donors in New Jersey and across the country. In the United States today, there are over 113,000 individuals on the waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant. On average, 20 people will die a day due to the shortage of organs.”
-Patti DiSanto, Team Manager of Team Liberty.
Team Managers will receive an email to sign up for their team’s flag tour dates. Be sure to check with your team manager to find out when the flag is coming to your city!

Passages
TransplantNATION magazine’s Passages page pays tribute to many milestones reached by individuals in our community. We intend to share news of births, marriages, anniversaries, transplant anniversaries, deaths, and any other significant announcements that celebrate the gift of life or acknowledge the support an individual(s) has given to the organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation world.
If you have a tribute you would like to share in an upcoming Passages page, please send your information (35-75 words or less) to Josh Sweedyk at

Transplant Life Foundation and Transplant Games of America would like to thank you for your support of our mission. The work that we do to educate the public and bring awareness about donation and transplantation would not be possible without your help and commitment.
