Dave Scott
Dave was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, but grew up in California and Hawaii.

He went to Audobon and Euclid Elementary Schools in San Diego, but wasn't introduced to music until his family moved to Hawaii.   In Kailua, he began playing ukulele, but switched to trombone at Kalaheo Intermediate School.  Saving his money from a paper route, he bought his first trombone and took lessons from legendary Louis Armstrong trombonist Trummy Young.  At Kalaheo, he won several band awards and earned a two-year scholarship with the Honolulu Symphony.  At Kailua High School, Dave learned from former Stan Kenton trumpeter Norman Baltazar.

After his family moved back to San Diego, Dave finished at Grossmont High School before going to Grossmont College and finally San Diego State.

While at Grossmont High School, Dave was named 1975 Golfer of the Year for Grossmont Union High District and played in the State Championship.

At Grossmont College, he was part of the team that won the 1976 California State College Championship.

After spending three years on the canals and rivers of France, Dave became the first American to earn his captain's license to navigate French barges, becoming the Captain of De Hoop on the Canal du Nivernais.

He then returned to graduate from San Diego State with BS in Marketing and has since earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Dave began a career in Broadcasting after working at his father's typewriter business.   He returned to San Diego City College going through the Broadcast Program and working on the show "Newscene."  He began writing Radio commercials and studied at the National Weather Service with Chief Meteorologist Wilbur Shigehara.  After internships at KGTV and KPOP, he landed his first on-air position with KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona as weekday weatherman and feature reporter.

After a brief stint at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Dave returned to San Diego as the weekend weather anchor for KUSI-TV.

In his 22 years at KUSI, Dave has created, written and hosted numerous shows including "More of the Wild" with Joan Embery, "On the Edge" Science series, San Diego Backroads, and his current segment "Dave's World of Wonder."  During that time, he enjoyed 16 years of teaching Broadcasting at San Diego City College.

He has won numerous Emmy and Associated Press Awards and recently was honored with a plaque on the Grossmont College "Walk of Fame".   He holds a Seal of Approval in Broadcast Meteorology from the American Meteorological Society and was an inductee into the NATAS Silver Circle.

As a musician, Dave picked up a Jazz Artist of the Year nomination at the 1998 San Diego Music Awards and leads his own groups "Monsoon", "Mambo Trombo Trio, and The New Slide Quartet."  He has also had the chance to sing and share some unique musical moments with the likes of Steve Allen, Robert Goulet, Mel Torme, Bill Watrous, Toni Tenille, Ed McMahon, Jimmy Buffet, Carol Channing and even Wayne Newton and CNN's Larry King.

His compositions have been featured on radio and television including KSDS Jazz 88 and KIFM's Morning Drive Show.  He wrote and produced the themes to KUSI's Good Morning San Diego and San Diego Backroad's.  His latest feature song "Out on the Street"  was written be part of an upcoming documentary and Paramount Film.

Dave Scott is currently Weekend Meteorologist and producer of Dave's World of Wonder with KUSI-TV and is at work on a new CD project of original music.
