Our Double IPA (DIPA) is a bold beer. Bright aromas of pineapple, tangerine, cherry, and cotton candy are backed by a balanced malt profile. To complement the fruitiness, our DIPA finishes with a dry, firm bitterness. Visually, our DIPA is golden orange in color with a nice white head.

But wait, haven't we brewed a Double IPA before? Didn't we retire that beer? Yes, yes we did. If the description didn't tip you off, this DIPA is different than our Double Crossing IPA. Don't believe us? You'll just have to try it for yourself.

We are releasing DIPA in our taproom on Friday, March 8th. Details for the DIPA Release Party are listed below in the Taproom section. After our party, DIPA will be available on tap at your local bar or restaurant starting the week of March 11th.

White Pine Project IPA is flooding the Minnesota craft beer scene right now. This crisp, tropical, citrusy, slightly bitter beer should be your go-to IPA of the season. Why? 1) Because it's dangerously good. 2) Because a large part of the proceeds from this beer go to bringing the white pine population back to the North Shore. Doing good never tasted so good!

Last year, Castle Danger Brewery and the Rajala Foundation (Minnesota Power) bought and handed out 2,000 white pine seedlings. This year, Castle Danger Brewery is purchasing 2,500 seedlings to hand out during the Arbor Day weekend giveaway party at our taproom in Two Harbors. The impact of this beer is literally growing every year. We attribute all of this to you, our beer drinkers!

White Pine Project IPA is now available at your local liquor store, bar, or restaurant. Check out the Beer Finder on our website to see where you can get White Pine Project IPA in your neck of the woods. Also, be on the lookout for more details regarding the Arbor Day weekend white pine giveaway.

There are 170 craft breweries in Minnesota which have a collective annual economic impact of $2.1 billion dollars in the state. That's a lot of beer! It's clear that craft beer is important to us hearty Minnesotans.
The MN Beer Industry Innovation and Growth bill package will eliminate unnecessary restrictions that are currently holding back businesses at every level of the beer supply chain and limiting consumers' choices. Our ultimate goal is to have all four bills in the package pass, but the bill that impacts Castle Danger the most is the Growler Cap Bill.
Why? Current MN law restricts breweries producing more than 20,000 barrels annually from selling growlers. Our bill would allow any brewery with a taproom to sell growlers. Upon our next license renewal on October 1, 2019, we will no longer be able to sell growlers under current MN law. Growlers are such an important symbol of the North Shore and we hope that we can continue to sell growlers to you for many more years to come.
How can you help? Subscribe to our Growler Information email list. You'll be the first to know when we need your help contacting our state representatives.

Quality is a core value of Castle Danger Brewery. Our Lab Manager, Hannah, works with our brewers, cellarmen, and packaging operators to ensure that our beer is as close to perfect as we can get it. Hannah is truly an instrumental part of Team Danger. Here's a little more about Hannah!

What did you do before working at CDB?
  • While I was pursuing my B.S. in cell and molecular biology, I worked for a research project on the effects of climate change on MN tree species. I then developed my own research project involving brewing bacteria. After graduating, I started to work full-time for CDB.
How long have you been working for CDB?
  • Two and a half years.
What is the best part of your job?
  • The best part of my job is being able to work in the field that I love to help create a product that our whole team is passionate about and proud of. We are always troubleshooting and brainstorming ways to improve the quality and consistency of our beer, so when we sit down together to enjoy the finished product and see firsthand what our hard work created, it’s very rewarding.
What is your favorite CDB beer? What is your favorite beer outside of CDB?
If you could be any animal, which would you be?
  • I'm going to choose elephant because they are empathetic and caring and I could eat to my heart's desire.
What is your favorite movie?
Who inspires you?
  • I am inspired by all the fearless and unapologetic women who have helped change the course of history, as well as those who continue to be leaders and have a strong voice today. #yasqueen
Describe one crazy moment/memory you've had at CDB.
  • Definitely going all out for the 2018 Pride Dabbler. Our team dressed to impress as the Rocky Horror Picture Show cast and we looked GOOD. Somehow, watching Mason in five-inch heels and Caitlin in glittery booty shorts trotting through the hotel lobby and the streets of Minneapolis made the festival 100x more fun and entertaining.

We would be lost without Hannah. She keeps us in line and on our toes, but always has a smile on her face. She also runs the sensory program at the brewery which is everyone's favorite part of the workday. Cheers to you, Hannah!

Everything starts at 6pm on March 8th. A brewer will start the party with an introduction to DIPA while we pass out *free samples*, live music by Pushing Chain starts at 7pm, hourly prize drawings, multiple infusions of DIPA, and a Louise's Place pop-up shop. The first 24 people to order a DIPA will get a free Team Danger pint glass. We are also offering $1 off tulips and discounted growlers of DIPA during the party. The first drawing will be at 7pm and will go every hour until 9pm - you must purchase a tulip of DIPA to enter the drawing, and must be present to win. Mark your calendars!

Castle Danger Brewery is joining forces with the food trucks who frequent our taproom during the temperate time of year. The 2019 Food Truck Series is a relaxed and unique beer dinner experience featuring outstanding street fares paired with our dangerously good ales.

On March 30th, we are joining forces with El Oasis Del Norte to bring you an authentic Mexican beer dinner. El Oasis is a food truck favorite up at the brewery and we are excited to pair our dangerously good ales with their killer cuisine. The full menu is listed on our website.

Reservations are required and are available on our website. Space is limited to 34 people. Must be 21+ to attend.

Our Pints for a Cause program is donating to North Shore Horizons for the entire month of March. Stop in every Wednesday and $1 of every pint sold will go to the organization. It's a great way to feel good about drinking beer. See you on Wednesday.
