Aspiring Filmmaker Living With Epilepsy

Miles Levin was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was five years old. Now 19, his seizures are yet to be controlled, but this does not stop him! Miles is in college and currently finishing a short super hero comedy while laying the ground work for a western feature film. Miles realizes that his epilepsy is a challenge but, because of the support he has received, he has built the confidence he needs.

Miles was introduced to EFNC by his UCSF Epileptologist, Dr. Joseph Sullivan, who recommended that Miles participate in Coelho Epilepsy Youth Summer Camp. Miles became a counselor and returns each summer for more! At camp, he saw a lot of campers who had experienced the stigma of epilepsy and recognized that he was one of the lucky few who has been able to detach his identity from his epilepsy. Miles is grateful for the opportunities he has received by working with EFNC.

"I have come to see the importance of making sure youth with epilepsy feel empowered," says Miles. "I enjoy being a mentor."

In 2014, Miles returned to Coelho Camp as the official camp photographer and videographer. He captured moments that will last a lifetime--the smiles, the friendships, the fun, and even the tears.

success an inspiration for those affected by epilepsy.

Miles began his film-making career at age 15, writing and directing his first feature length film, "Project: User", which enjoyed film festival acceptances in Prescott, Arizona and California's Wine Country. Since then, Miles has created a number of short live action films, and showcased his work at film festivals near and far, including Flagstaff, Arizona, and British Columbia.
