For over 8 years we have been writing and sending out a monthly newsletter about our firm and our community. We think it's a great way to stay connected to our friends and colleagues. Although we do have social media accounts, we do not post much and try and stay away from the drama on those stations. Please keep in touch and let us know how you feel about our 100th newsletter.

The Tao Yuan Greenhouse is up, and mostly operational. The pandemic has slowed the growth of the entire build-out, as the cafe/wine bar is still in progress, and not all of the fish are swimming in the basement yet. However, there are plants growing and warm-water fish in the greenhouse. Greenhouse by Arch Solar. Construction by PM Construction.

While the weather was sill very nice we were able to site the Maine Branch Cottage in Arrowsic. We located an original location on our plans, but after staking out the cottage we felt a better response to the site and views was to move the cottage a few feet and rotate the building by a few more degrees to better respond to the topography. Construction will be by Chartier Building and Remodeling.

DMA recently received Design Review approval from the town of Freeport for an addition to Linda Beans Maine Restaurant and Topside Tavern. We designed the original restaurant 10 years ago, which was built by Zachau Construction. The expansion will increase outdoor seating and will include a walk-up ice cream window.

It's much more fun to see framing going up rather than the concrete and hole-in-the-ground work leading up to framing. Clifden is well underway by Oceanside Builders. Long lead items, like windows, have been ordered, and the interior details and colors are being finalized by Jeanne Handy Designs. And, one of our clients is an author with a book out just in time for Christmas. Two Novellas: A Luke of All Ages / Fire and Ice, is a new book of fiction published by Adelaide Books.

Currently on exhibit at the Centre Streets Arts Gallery, Judy Conlan finds beauty in the mundane. She works in oil, watercolor, and most recently, acrylic. Her process is as important as the end result, and enjoys painting when it takes over at an unconscious level.
