NACO 2021 ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Our office is honored to be a winner of the 2021 Achievement Award for our Certified Peer Support Specialist Program. The program helps train individuals who can assist others involved in criminal justice to discover meaningful second chances.

We were also the recipients of a 2020 Achievement Award for our Justice Restoration Project, a unique reform project created and implemented by the office in partnership with county and community leaders. The groundbreaking project is a realization of DA Nancy O’Malley’s vision aimed at reducing recidivism and improving public safety.

GUILTY VERDICT

PEOPLE V. EDUARDO GALINDO-GARCIA

A jury found defendant Eduardo Galindo-Garcia guilty of the second-degree murder of Joseph Cox, who was fatally shot on June 9, 2018 in a road-rage incident.

The jury also found the defendant guilty of felony shooting at an occupied motor vehicle.

On June 9, 2018 around 10 p.m. the defendant was driving on 25th Ave. and Foothill Boulevard in Oakland, when he was cut off by another vehicle, driven by Mr. Cox. The two cars jockeyed back and forth for a couple of blocks, until they reached 38th Avenue. It was then that the defendant pulled out a gun and fired a single shot into the open driver’s window of Mr. Cox’s car; he was fatally shot in the head.
