THANK YOU DEACONS!

This past Tuesday, the deacons put together a wonderful Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner — lots of people, lots of food,

and lots of fun!

Thank you everyone for such a great event!

 New Lenten Candle Wreath

Something that we have incorporated into our Lenten worship experience over the last several years has been a Lenten Cross — we light a candle every week in Lent leading up to Holy Week.

This year, we have shifted from a cross to this beautiful crown-wreath, which features six candles for the weeks of Lent and a “Resurrection Candle” in the middle.

The wreath itself was purchased, the pedestal you’ll recognize from Advent, and the ring that the wreath sits on was crafted by Ted Mills.

We hope that it will add another layer of meaning to our Lenten worship for years to come.

CHANGE OF PLANS REMINDER!

The spring retreat is now a lock-in.

Due to a lack of overall availability,

the multi-church youth retreat set for the weekend of March 21-23 is now an overnight

lock-in from Friday March 21-Sat March 22, 7pm-8am at Cross Roads Presbyterian in Monroeville.

Please talk to Pastor Ben for further details.

Save The Date - Mission Trip Opportunity!

St Paul's United Methodist Church (Ferguson Rd. in Allison Park) invites anyone interested to join their 2025 workcamp (Sunday, May 11 to Saturday, May 17), which will travel to help the folks in western North Carolina & eastern Tennessee, working with a group called Appalachia Service Project (ASP) on housing damaged by hurricane Helene (somewhere TBD along the border).

Volunteers would drive themselves (some like to go early, some return late), and cover their own food and gas, but everything else is expected to be covered. More details to be forthcoming.

Questions can be directed to Cheryl English or Ted Mills.

Clef Notes

Music Director, Stephen Schall

Lent — the time of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving — is here. The liturgy becomes simpler and more reflective, as does the music. The introit is the penitential chant, Attende Domine. Confession of sin is emphasized a bit by the singing of the Kyrie, in a lovely chant-like setting by John W. Becker. Sunday’s gospel tells of Jesus’s 40 days in the wilderness. A haunting setting of the hymn, Jesus Walked This Lonesome Valley, will be sung by the choir. May this quiet and reflective season help us all become ready to celebrate the Resurrection at Easter with renewed joy and a deepened faith.

The Northmont Dining Out Group will gather on March 24 at 6:30 at Primanti Bros. in McIntyre Square. All are invited to join!
