Good afternoon all -
Dominus Capital has added-on again to its
Masterbuilt outdoor cooking platform with the buy of
Kamado Joe, a Duluth, GA-based designer, marketer and distributor of kamado style ceramic grills, charcoal and accessories. My brother Pete, who is a grill master extraordinaire, tells me that ceramic grills are all the rage these days - if you're serious in your craft, you must have one. Masterbuilt's first add-on was back in September 2017 when it acquired
Smoke Hollow, a manufacturer of cooking products and accessories including gas, charcoal and pellet fired grills, and gas and electric smokers, from Neosho, MO-based
Outdoor Leisure Products. New York-based Dominus makes control equity investments in North American middle market companies that have at least $10 million of EBITDA. The firm was founded in 2008 by
Gary Binning,
Bob Haswell, and
Ashish Rughwani - all former Quad-C Management executives. For more see today's lead article.
Yesterday's big read... Congrats to
Larry Sorrel and the rest of the team at
Tailwind Capital on closing up the firm's third fund at an oversubscribed $1.8 billion. If you're keeping score, Tailwind's earlier fund closed with $1.05 billion of capital in June 2015 and its first fund was raised in 2009 with $775 million of capital. Tailwind invests from $25 million to $100 million of equity in middle-market companies that have enterprise values of up to $300 million and EBITDA from $10 million to $30 million. Sectors of interest include healthcare, business services, and industrial services.
