Program Spotlights

Día de los Muertos is a holiday of Mexican origins that celebrates reunification of the living and the dead. Ofrendas are displayed to honor family members that have passed, decorated with brightly colored flowers, sugar skulls, and favorite foods of those being honored. Wild Plum staff and board members joined the City of Longmont and many other organizations in celebrating Día de los Muertos at the downtown street festival this month.

This year we are grateful for the opportunity to continue connecting families in person. We loved returning to the Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch, where Wild Plum children enjoyed they Hay Maze, Corn Maze, and Bouncy House along with the amazing photo ops! The Pumpkin Ranch is such a fun way to see so many of our Wild Plum children, families and staff participate in fall festivities outside of the classroom.

Conscious Discipline

Parent Nights

Parent Nights are a FREE virtual parenting class open to the public. These will be held on zoom the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm starting November 8th. Each night we will explore different powers and skills to help create a safe, connected, problem solving family. This is a great opportunity to discover and practice ways to redirect unwanted behavior into positive outcomes.

Conscious Discipline is a core part of the Wild Plum Center. Our Mental Health Consultant along with our CDAT team guide us on how to apply it's foundations of safety, connection and problem-solving in our leadership meetings, all-staff meetings, classrooms and Parent Nights. We believe that the 7 Powers and Skills of Conscious Discipline can transform ourselves, and as a result, generate positive impacts in our program, classes, families, and community.

We invite you to join us on Tuesday, November 8th at 6:00pm to introduce

Conscious Discipline, with a focus on the Power of Perception.

Service Spotlight

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers that are working hard to meet the needs of our Longmont community. Annually, our local Kiwanis Club of Longmont provides vouchers for children to receive free shoes.

One of our family specialists shared her story:

I used my vouchers to buy shoes for the twins in LP2, they were both excited when they got their shoes because they were matching.

One child said they make him "run super fast and the other ones didn't do that," he was very excited to wear new shoes.

Nearly $100 million are raised every year to continue programs like this all over the world. The local Kiwanis Club of Longmont has been a long time partner to the Wild Plum Center. To learn more about Kiwanis and the work they are doing to support our community, click the link below!
