Drive-By “Meet and Greet” + Epiphany Blessing: January 31
The Rev. Duane Nettles and The Rev. Kim Reinholz will be in front of the church this Sunday, Jan. 31 from noon to 2:00 p.m. handing out chalk and Epiphany blessings! It’s a great opportunity to meet our new Rector, Duane, in person!

To prevent a traffic block, please enter onto Cherry Street, turn right on to South Cathedral Place, then turn right onto North Laurel Street where you will arrive at the front of the church. Face masks are required.
Annual Meeting Sun. Feb. 21
Until the pandemic you may have never used a webcam or other technology…yet now you can Zoom like a pro! This year the church's annual meeting on Sun. Feb. 21 at 11:00 a.m. will be held virtually using Zoom. We will vote for Vestry members using email coupled with a secure online platform called Election Runner. Look for details to arrive in your mailbox Feb.10-13. If you have not received a package by Feb. 16, be sure to contact the church at 804.359.5628 so staff can drop the materials by your home or office.

Samples from Sunday
This week’s “Samples from Sunday” is “You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore” performed by Abigail Stinnett, soloist and Dr. Elizabeth Melcher Davis, pianist. It is #758 in our hymnal supplement “Wonder, Love and Praise.” The hymn was featured in our online worship service on January 24. Thanks to Abigail for sharing her musical gifts with us! You can watch our other samples from Sunday here.
Upcoming Small Groups via Zoom
Although we are not able to safely gather in person, you can still connect with church friends in a small group setting by joining one of these upcoming Zoom sessions:

Need a Little Love?
Join members from GHTC in a discussion of Presiding Bishop Curry’s book Love is the Way on Valentine’s Day. At 9:00 a.m. on 2/14 we will join for our February Formation Hour on Zoom. You can still get it in plenty of time for our meeting. It’s a great read, only 215 pages, and it’s all about love.
Winter Wellness: Gratitude
With the stress and uncertainty of our times, it can be challenging to maintain an orientation toward gratitude. Gratitude—both the feeling of being thankful and the active practice of noticing the positives in your life—can be healing and buoying in the face of worry and fear. Giving and receiving expressions of gratitude are associated with greater contentment, reduced anxiety, and deeper connection in relationships. Gratitude also helps us see and draw closer to God.

This article has suggestions for how you can incorporate the practice of gratitude in your daily life, including suggestions for activities you can do with children.

This video is a 5-minute gratitude-focused guided meditation, which you may find helpful to experience at the start or end of your day, or anywhere in between!
Lent Madness 2021 is Coming Up Soon
With the Lenten season approaching that means the yearly competition for the Golden Halo will also be kicking off soon. Lent Madness, starting on Feb. 18, is a fun way to learn about a variety of the Church’s saints, enjoy a little competition, and maybe even win a prize. You can learn about Lent Madness here, and you can take a look at the 2021 bracket and matchups here. Watch the eNews for details on how you can participate in Lent Madness 2021.
Pastoral Care Call Team
Mother Kim has reached out to people about helping make calls to members of the congregation who may need a little intentional attention during this time. Thank you to all who have expressed interest in this unique ministry. We will be having a series of conversations about confidentiality, pastoral care and how to reach out to one another in February. If you are interested in joining the Call Team (which also includes emails, texts and cards) please contact Mo. Kim to be added to the list of “Callers.”
