Every January, EAPO recognizes and brings awareness to Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. During this month, we encourage organizations and individuals to learn more about dementia and its stark impact on Canadians.


Please take the time to review resources and past webinars that EAPO, in collaboration with community partners, has developed to bring awareness of Alzheimer’s and Dementia to support seniors, and their caregivers.

This guide, developed for the campaign, builds on the evidence in the Global report on ageism that interventions for intergenerational contact is one of three strategies that have been proven to work in addressing ageism, together with policy and law and educational interventions.

Ageism in artificial intelligence (AI) for health (WHO) .

The WHO policy brief Ageism in artificial intelligence for health examines the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and public health for older people, including the conditions in which AI can exacerbate or introduce new forms of ageism. The brief presents legal, non-legal and technical measures that can be used to minimize the risk of ageism in AI and maximize AI’s benefits for older people as these technologies become more commonly used across the world.

Age-Friendly Communities: Are they also “Friendly” for Death, Dying, Grief, and Bereavement? (Canadian Journal on Aging). The age-friendly movement aims to ensure that people can live healthy and meaningful lives as they age. It is committed to activity and inclusion, with policies, services, and structures that enable older adults to remain engaged in activities that they value. We suggest that there is further opportunity for communities to increase inclusion and reduce ageism by improving their “death-friendliness”.
