Ontario is Making it Easier to Start a Business
The Ontario government is making it easier to start and grow a business with the launch of the new Ontario.ca/business website. The website is one of the initiatives being implemented as part of the Fewer Fees, Better Services Act, which received Royal Assent on March 3, 2022, and builds on successive efforts to cut red tape and reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens for businesses.

Bringing Passenger Rail Back to Northeastern Ontario
The Ontario government is investing $75 million to bring passenger rail service back to Northeastern Ontario, restoring a key transportation option that was previously cancelled in 2012. Service will be reinstated between Timmins and Toronto, helping to connect Northern Ontario as the government invests in unlocking the full economic potential of northern industries, resources and minerals.

Ontario Invests in Innovative Life Sciences Technologies to Strengthen Pandemic Supply Chain
The Ontario government is supporting an investment of more than $3.7 million by Toronto Research Chemicals (TRC) to develop a line for chemicals used in the development of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits, including those used for COVID-19 detection. The province is investing $2.5 million through the Ontario Together Fund to help scale up current production and fully develop TRC’s product line and other biochemicals. This will create 13 jobs in the Greater Toronto Area.

Ontario Cutting Gas and Fuel Taxes For Six Months To Provide Relief For Businesses and Families
As part of its plan to keep costs down for Ontario families and businesses, the Ontario government is introducing legislation that would, if passed, cut the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre and the fuel tax by 5.3 cents per litre for six months beginning July 1, 2022.
