The 2018-2019 class of
Leadership Alabama is set with 63 residents stepping up to learn more about the state and expand their leadership skills.
The statewide program for Alabama leaders will enable them to create relationships, networks and promote the state's future. This year's class with have sessions in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile and Montgomery where participants will be encouraged to make critical examinations of preconceived thoughts about our state, their communities and possibly themselves. Then they will take lessons home to impact change.
Elba receives two top honors at Main Street Alabama Awards
EUFAULA ─ Main Street Alabama celebrated local program successes at the fifth annual Awards of Excellence on the day that Governor Kay Ivey proclaimed Main Street Alabama Day. The day recognizes the efforts of the organization that is focused on creating jobs and keeping character in communities across the state. During the Awards of Excellence program, Main Street Alabama's President and State Coordinator, Mary Helmer, honored 33 projects that made tremendous impacts in their respective communities. Alabama Municipal Electric Authority sponsored the event that was held at Lake Point State Park.
Montgomery July home sales increase 14 percent from 2017

Sales: According to the
Montgomery Area Association of Realtors Multiple Listing Service, Montgomery-area sales totaled 450 units during July, up 13.6 percent from 396 sales in the same month a year earlier. July sales were down 11.6 percent compared to 509 sales in June. Results were 14.5 percent above the five-year July average of 393 sales. Two more resources to review:

Inventory: Homes listed for sale in the Montgomery area during July totaled 2,120 units, a decrease of 6.6 percent from July 2017's 2,271 units, and a decrease of .9 percent from June 2018's 2,139 units. Montgomery also experienced a year-over-year decline in months of supply. July months of supply totaled 4.7 months, a decrease of 17.9 percent from July 2017's 5.7 months of supply. July's months of supply increased from June's 4.2 months of supply.
