And We're Off.......
New 2017 year silver figures with gold 7 isolated on white background. 3D rendering.
2017 is off and running and January has flown by as evidenced by the lateness of this newsletter.  We hope that the year is starting well for all of you although we know that many are dealing with bad weather and battling the flu.  If that's the case, please stay safe and get well soon.  Dallas is enjoying a much warmer and drier winter than usual.  We have a very busy 2017 on tap and we are already filling our calendar for 2018.  We wish all of you a wonderful year ahead and hope to see many of you on our group trips or at the many Abilities Expos around the country.  Our groups will be in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, cruising the Baltic and visiting Ireland.  Will you be joining us?
Remember, we are here to make all your travel dreams come true.  Where will you be in 2017???

Easy Access Travel Returns to ALASKA!!!

We will be doing another Alaska Group Cruise round-trip Seattle August 4 - 11, 2018.  This time we will be cruising with NCL on a ship being built specifically for Alaska, Norwegian Bliss.  She is not built yet but promises to be absolutely amazing with walls of glass for your viewing pleasure.  Complete details will be posted to my website in the next week.  We have just secured space and are anxious to share it with you.  NCL is known for the hulls on their ships being painted by famous artists.  The Bliss will have her hull painted by Wyland, famous for his paintings of whales and sea life that decorate many building walls on the West Coast.  We are also working on a two night Seattle pre-cruise adventure.
Please email if you would like to be on the list for an accessible stateroom.
People often ask, "when is the best time to visit Alaska?"  Actually, May through early September are all good and I've probably been there every month except September.  Weather these days has become so unpredictable that it's hard to guess when one should visit.   Read this article to see Cruise Critics opinion of when to visit Alaska....

Cruising to Roatan and Belize

I had a real treat last week.  I cruised on RCCL's Liberty of the Seas out of Galveston to Roatan, Belize and Cozumel.  Believe it or not, in all my years of cruising, I had not been to Roatan or Belize.  This cruise was just for me and my sister (my BFF) and we had the best time.  We laughed till our stomachs hurt, had a massage and facial, shopped, ate, colored, swam and just did whatever caught our fancy.  We also went into every port.  I didn't think I would be able to go to Belize as it is a tender port but RCCL had a big wheelchair accessible ferry boat taking people to shore and I just rolled on in my scooter.  A wheelchair accessible island tour was offered in all ports although I chose not to partake.  Roatan and Cozumel are both docked ports and we did a little exploring.  We spent the most time in Cozumel where we took a wheelchair accessible taxi downtown, did a little shopping and had some lunch.  The accessible taxis are very new and quite large.  All in all, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable week.

Deb's Medical Update
& Travel Adventures

Two significant changes have happened since the new year.  I decided that I needed to walk more or I would never improve. So, I now park my wheelchair once I'm dressed and put together (I call it the Humpty Dumpty Syndrome!!) and spend the day walking when I'm not sitting at my desk.  I walk into restaurants and to doctor appointments and, once in a while, into a store.  I mostly use the scooters at the grocery story and Costco.  Little by little, my balance is improving and so is my walking.  I'm still dealing with some discomfort and hoping that will resolve with time.  The earlier problem with my swollen knee due to blood pooling has gone away so I'm happy about that.
Second change is I rejoined Weight Watchers.  I am a long time Lifetime member but spending almost a year sitting in the wheelchair and eating lots of what I should not has led to too tight clothes and feeling uncomfortable.  I began January 4 and I've lost a few pounds albeit slowly.  My sisters said it gets a lot harder the older we get!  I just returned from a cruise and I worked the program the entire week.  I didn't miss the bread and desserts and actually enjoyed not feeling overfull.  If anyone out there wants some weight loss support, feel free to contact me and we can help each other with our efforts.  Here's to lots of fruit and veggies!
