Visiting the Baltic
Quite an Adventure!

36 travelers made their way to the beautiful city of Copenhagen in early June.  We were accommodated in four hotels to assure access for all.  Everyone did their "own thing" and explored Copenhagen. Those that were able to negotiate stairs enjoyed a boat ride on the canal.  I loved visiting beautiful Tivoli Gardens.  We embarked the NCL Getaway on June 12 which would be home for the next 9 days.  Unfortunately, we were very disappointed when we found out we would not be visiting Berlin as planned on day 2. The wind was too strong for the captain to safely navigate the narrow channel leading to Warnemunde (port city for Berlin).  We finally made it to Warnemunde on day 3 but only had enough time to disembark for 5 hours while more passengers came on board and others left.  As a result of this, we never made it to Tallin.  Everyone must be prepared for the unpredictable when they travel but, nonetheless, we were disappointed.  On to St. Petersburg for the next two days. Our tour operator did an outstanding job and the guides were very organized.  There were seven accessible vans waiting for us as we disembarked and they knew who was in each van according to our mobility equipment.  We had glorious weather and magnificent scenery and everyone had an amazing time.  A small group even went to the Russian Ballet to see Swan Lake and said it was the highlight of the visit.  We continued on and visited Helsinki and Stockholm which were also very well organized.

New England & Canada
Escape With Us October 7-14, 2018
Norwegian Escape, round-trip New York
HURRY & RESERVE before they're GONE
We did this itinerary in 2014 and it is one of my favorite trips. Just ask the lucky people who sailed with us.  We all had an amazing time. We depart out of Manhattan and sail to Portland, Maine, Bar Harbor (may be tendered), Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John, New Brunswick.  The scenery is breathtaking and we should be on time for some beautiful changing colors.
This itinerary is in high demand.  Therefore, it is very important that you reserve your cabin as soon as possible or they may be pulled by ship inventory.  A deposit of $500 will hold your space and is fully refundable until June 15, 2018. Don't be disappointed.

Easy Access Travel Returns to ALASKA!!!
We will be doing another Alaska Group Cruise round-trip Seattle August 4 - 11, 2018.  This time we will be cruising with NCL on a ship being built specifically for Alaska, Norwegian Bliss.  She is not built yet but promises to be absolutely amazing with walls of glass for your viewing pleasure.  Complete details have been posted to my website.  We have just secured space and are anxious to share it with you.  NCL is known for the hulls on their ships being painted by famous artists.  The Bliss will have her hull painted by Wyland, famous for his paintings of whales and sea life that decorate many building walls on the West Coast.  We are also working on a two night Seattle pre-cruise adventure.
Please email or call to sign up.  Many cabins already spoken for.

European Riverboat Cruise...
Is this a possibility?
Want to see Tulip Time in Holland?

Believe it or not, I am actually planning an accessible Riverboat Cruise  t hrough the Netherlands for early April, 2018.  Depart
USA March 31 for arrival in Amsterdam on April 1.  Accessible transfer will take you to the vessel.  This is a 5 night river cruise with 4 port stops where we will have accessible tours (included).  Most will be walking/rolling tours.  I have been given 10 accessible cabins based on double occupancy.  Here is the caveat....this vessel is not fancy. It was originally used as a hospital boat.  The accessible cabins do not have private bathrooms.  The ship has very spacious and very well adapted shared bathrooms, which are shared between 2 and 3 cabins.  The planning for this is very well managed which has been confirmed by former passengers.
All meals and snacks are provided on the vessel.
Disembark vessel on April 6 and then enjoy 3 nights at the Amsterdam Doubletree Hotel by Hilton with breakfast. Accessible transfer from boat to hotel is included as well as a walking tour on April 7 followed by an accessible canal cruise, accessible day trip to Zaanse Schans (to see the windmills and wooden shoes) on April 8, accessible transfer from hotel to airport on April 9.
We will also include one dinner in Amsterdam and lunch at Zaanse Schans or another location.  Approximate cost at this time is $4100.00USD per person based on double occupancy.  We are awaiting confirmation of costs but the price should not fluctuate much if any.
Who's going to join us on this adventure?  I think it's going to be awesome!  First come,  first served.  My newsletter readers get first choice on this tour.  We will have a maximum of 20 travelers in the group.  This is Tulip Time in Holland and the famous Keukenhof Flower Gardens will be open.

TRAVEL TIPS
Traveling with a scooter or power chair?
Be sure to bring some shower caps to cover the controls if you get caught in a rain storm.  Getting the controls wet can cause an outage or make the scooters beep nonstop. Both are very annoying.  Also bring along some duck tape to secure the shower caps to prevent them from blowing away.  Bring some ponchos along as well.  These cover you and your mobility equipment very well.  I usually go to the Dollar Store and stock up on all items except the duck tape.  The duck tape at the Dollar Store is not good quality and too difficult to use.

Deb's Medical Update
& Travel Adventures

Since returning home from Scandinavia, I have been busy with doctor appointments, physical therapy, swimming and planning wonderful adventures for all of you.  My hip is not completely healed yet but the doctor says it is progressing nicely.  At the same time, I'm working on getting two prosthetic legs to fit comfortably.  It's always something!

Book Review

I have been doing a lot more reading lately which is something I've enjoyed since I was a young girl.  I recently read a non-fiction book which, if I could, I would make required reading for everyone who travels in one of my groups. It's called, Wheelchairs, Scooters & Sticks by Terry Reynolds and has to do with all things regarding mobility and access while traveling. It is 214 pages and, while not very well written, it is certainly factual and will open your eyes to how far we have come with accessible travel. Mr. Reynolds got into this field in England purely based on a profit motive but came to really be involved in this industry and did so much for all of us.  I highly recommend this book to all of you and think you will enjoy your next trip so much more after reading it.  You can find it on Amazon.
