Ended 2019 and began 2020 in Israel
Steve and I had the honor of joining one of our very special clients and his family on an incredible trip to Israel over the holiday season. Eleven of us flew together on EL AL from JFK to Tel Aviv and arrived Christmas Eve day. We were greeted by Eli Mieri, our guide for the next 12 days and long time friend of mine. Eli and I met almost 25 years ago at a Disability Event in Florida where he represented accessible tourism in Israel.
Despite chilly, rainy weather, everyone had a very meaningful visit and learned so much about the history of this tiny country. The food was delicious and brought back many memories of my childhood.
I look forward to returning in May with another group who will have the pleasure of learning from Eli as well.

New Rule Could Bump Emotional Support Animals From Planes
At the risk of making enemies, I must admit that I am opposed to people flying with emotional support animals and was very happy to read the news that the Department of Transportation is going to give airlines the ability to deny passengers the right to fly with these animals. Just like the abuse of Disabled Parking Placards, there is now rampant abuse among people who simply want to fly with their pets onboard airplanes. As a frequent passenger, I feel that these pets infringe on my comfort especially when an animal gets the bulkhead seat ahead of my needs as a bilateral amputee. I truly hope that airlines choose to enforce their newfound ability to ban these animals from their aircraft.

When Your Wheelchair Gets Damaged....
We often write about what to do when your wheelchair arrives at your destination damaged. Well, it happened to me when I returned from Israel on my final flight to Dallas from JFK on American. I had my relatively new Fold and Go Wheelchair and when the agent brought the chair up, they dropped it right in front of me. It still worked but I decided to file a claim with American in case there was damage I wasn't aware of. The claim process was quick and easy and took less than 10 minutes. The next morning I received a phone call from Global Repair Group letting me know that a local person would call and be out to my home that day. They came and confirmed that my chair could no longer fold properly. They proceeded to take my chair to their shop and asked if I needed a loaner. I declined their offer as I only use this chair for travel. The next day they phoned to let me know that the chair could not be fixed and would replace it for me. Now for the problem.....Fold and Go refuses to work with any third party person and would not sell them a new chair. They insist that the chair be boxed and they would send UPS to pick up the chair from me. We could not box it as it would not completely fold. Global Repair Group (GRG) suggested I find a suitable alternative and recommended some companies that they frequently work with. So I did some research and found another chair that will do the same job for me when I travel overseas. Hats off to Global Repair Group for the outstanding follow up and complaint resolution. They were delightful to work with. I always include their information in my travel talks so all of you are aware of their services. All's well that ends well!
