DREAMING OF MY NEXT VACATION...

Never really sure what day of the week it is. Alexa is my "go to" for reality checks. Day to day activities have settled into a new routine consisting of work, household chores, watching TV, reading, webinars and Zoom meetings. I must admit that time is moving much faster than I would have expected. Before I know it, it's time to cook dinner again and Fridays seem to appear rather quickly each week. I've acquired a collection of masks. Who would have thought these would be my new fashion accessory for 2020? I continue to journal each day because this pandemic is too epic for me not to document it. I have not gone back to read any of it yet but will in the future when we feel safe again and are moving forward. My state, Texas, is rapidly opening up. I did get my nails and hair done and feel a lot better. However, I'm facing the opening of everything else with a lot of trepidation and anxiety. Listen to one TV station and they say we will all be fine. Listen to another and they paint a much more dismal future. I have never liked being fearful and am trying very hard to listen to my inner self and do what I feel is right for me.
In the meantime, I will dream of my next travel adventure and send you all a virtual hug. I do hope to see many of you in 2021 when our travel plans resume.

Travel Industry UPDATES

Please contact me for current information as it relates to your travel plans, cancellations & refunds.
- So much has changed in a very short time including our vocabulary. Certain words have taken on new meaning and have become commonplace and very important in our everyday lives. Three of these that come to mind are fluid, pivot and mitigate. I'm hearing these words all the time from the government as well as the travel industry. Let me recap this for you. Fluid means in a constant state of change or flux. Pivot refers to the ability to change direction, usually very quickly and mitigate is the ability to lessen the effects of Covid-19 and to actually avoid it if possible. Cruise Lines are changing schedules constantly and have been ceasing operations in 30 day periods. They are offering guests affected by cancelations the choice of a refund or a Future Cruise Credit of 125% (in most cases but not all). It is a very "fluid" situation and I recommend you call me with your individual concerns. For the most part, you need to use these vouchers for travel by December 31, 2022. It is all very confusing!
- Airlines are another story. They are not very up front about refunds and must be dealt with on a case by case basis. The ability to use the funds by a certain date without change fees is more common. You will have to pay any difference in price.
- Allianz Travel Protection: travel insurance companies are exempt from paying claims due to a pandemic. However, if you do not travel and have purchased Allianz, we can change dates or reuse it up to 770 days from date of purchase. Again, please contact me for clarification.
- The entire industry is trying to pivot and mitigate losses from this unfortunate and devastating situation. Everyone is trying to figure out how to best move forward in this strange new world we are living in. I believe they will and I cannot wait to travel again.
- We will navigate the system and will get through it TOGETHER.

DR. RACHEL PART!!!
Many of you have met my niece, Rachel Part, on prior trips where she traveled with me and assisted with our groups. Please join me in congratulating her on achieving a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Higher Education.
I was honored to view and listen to Rachel defend her dissertation on May 15. She did an outstanding job even though I barely understood the title! I am so very proud of her and look forward to more travels with Rachel in the future including our London & Paris adventure.

The Chicago Abilities Expo has just been canceled for 2020 as Illinois will not allow these events at this time. We will continue to update you as we receive information.
