Western Mediterranean Cruise is Huge Success!
WOW! From the amazing itinerary to experiencing Royal Caribbean's newest ship, Wonder of The Seas, this was a truly unforgettable experience.
Wonder is the last in RCCL's Oasis Class and did not disappoint. She's a little larger but very easy to navigate if you have sailed on other Oasis Class ships. I truly believe that RCCL leads the pack in accessibility. Wonder has an accessible Jr. Suite with a roll in closet! Lots of incredible storage space. She has also introduced the first accessible one bedroom suite in the fleet. It is spacious with two desk areas and a very large bathroom and shower. I'm very pleased that there are more options for accessible staterooms. With the introduction of the ICON Class in 2024, I hope to see more accessible family staterooms.
We began our trip with two nights in Barcelona. We were greeted with rain but it passed by mid afternoon. We enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the city including a visit to the Picasso Museum which everyone loved.
After boarding the ship and getting settled, we were off to different cities every day except the last day of the cruise. We visited Palma de Majorca, Marseilles, Rome, Florence and Naples (Sorrento & Amalfi Coast). Weather was perfect except for more rain in Rome while we visited the Coliseum. It had cleared by lunchtime so all was good. We had outstanding guides in each city and enjoyed time to sample the local cuisine and shops. My favorite was Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. So much beauty. This region is where Margarita Pizza was invented and we enjoyed some at lunch. Excellent! Thin crust, delicious sauce and lots of cheese!
While in Florence, we visited the Accademia Gallery and saw the original statue of David.
This was truly a memorable trip and I hope to see you on a future adventure.
