News regarding the BHECN-ARPA Awards Project -- April 2025

Register for the ARPA Awardee conference today!

Registration is now open for the BHECN ARPA Awardee and Community Stakeholder Conference!

The conference will be held on Friday, June 13th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kearney.

The day-long event aims to gather awardees for cross-regional networking and outcome-sharing, convene broad community stakeholders, and promote, recognize, and celebrate the success of the BHECN ARPA Awardees.

While the event will be open to others outside the ARPA awardee community, space is limited so we are initially opening registration for only awardees. Please register one attendee per project. We will open registration to additional attendees as space becomes available.

We encourage you to utilize travel, training, and event attendance allocations in your BHECN ARPA Award budget for this event. If you need additional assistance traveling to the event, please contact Cherish Harbour, BHECN ARPA Awards Administrator, at charbour@unmc.edu. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Crowne Plaza by IHG (707 Talmadge St, Kearney, NE 68845) at the rate of $159.95/night + taxes and fees. To reserve one of these rooms, please call the front desk directly at (308) 238-7000 and ask for the BHECN-ARPA rooms.

Free continuing education credits for six workshops, breakfast, lunch, light refreshments, and a networking hour will be provided throughout the day.

BHECN Scholars application cycle open through May 16

The BHECN Scholars Program is accepting applications now through May 16.

BHECN Scholars is a pathway program designed to support undergraduate seniors who plan to pursue master’s degrees in Nebraska-based behavioral health programs after graduation. Scholars receive a stipend, mentorship, professional development and opportunities for social and academic engagement within a cohort model.

The program’s goal is to recruit students from different regions of Nebraska into the behavioral health workforce and support their success as licensed professionals practicing in the state.

Scholars selected for the program will receive a one-time $5,000 payment in Fall 2025. This funding, distributed directly to the Scholar, can be used to support tuition and other educational expenses.

Additionally, Scholars who complete all program requirements and gain admission to an eligible graduate program in 2026 may renew their scholarship for a second year, receiving an additional $5,000.

Successful applicants will be notified of their awards in June.
