Now, here's what's making news for April 17, 2019:
City Council approves several road improvement projects
In a unanimous vote, the City Council approved several road improvement projects to proceed with new asphalt pavement, new access ramps and new striping and pavement markings.

As a result of the decision, the City will enter into a construction contract with All American Asphalt for a total bid amount of $377,334 with an additional appropriation of $126,013 of unallocated CDBG funds. The total contract cost is $415,067.40, which includes a 10% construction contingency.

'Egg'straordinary Spring Celebration this Saturday
Please join us this Saturday at Smith Park from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for our 75th Annual 'Egg'straordinary Spring Celebration, sponsored by the San Gabriel Kiwanis Club and Community Services.

This free event features a variety of fun spring-time activities, including a visit from Mr. Bunny! A breakfast donation of $5 includes pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and milk.
Preliminary findings released from Mission District study
A few months ago, the City Council commissioned a Mission District study that evaluates the area for future development.

While the study is still ongoing, AECOM - the consultants tasked with the study - has released several preliminary findings which you may read at the link below.
32nd Annual Chinese Dance Festival at the Playhouse
The American Chinese Dance Association presents their 32nd Annual Chinese Dance Festival this Saturday evening on April 20 at 7:00 p.m. For over 30 years, the American Chinese Dance Association has beautifully brought the regions of China to life through their dazzling costumes and captivating music.
Join the Community Emergency Response Team
The San Gabriel Fire Department will begin holding CERT classes starting on May 2. CERT - or community emergency response team - promotes a partnership between local emergency service organizations and the people and communities they serve.

Participants will learn about basic emergency response skills, such as disaster preparedness, medical operations, damage assessment and more.
California Mosquito Awareness Week April 21 to April 27
To raise awareness and educate Californians about the public health threat mosquitoes pose to the community, the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito & Vector Control District is running a campaign from April 21 to April 27.
