9th grade students will have option for off-campus lunch on Fridays

As a reward and break from the normal routine, 9th grade students that have been responsible with their attendance and timeliness (not tardy) will have the opportunity to go off campus for lunch on Fridays. They will be allowed to leave during their assigned lunch time, but must return on time.

All students that are off-campus during lunch are expected to be responsible for their behavior, safety and getting food! We are unable to provide supervision for students that leave campus.

Spring Break has begun, March 28-April 01. We hope you have a safe and relaxing break! We look forward to more warm weather and a strong last quarter.

Monday, April 04 - NO SCHOOL due to DPS Teacher Planning Day.

Tuesday, April 05 - Students return to school.

Junior-Senior Prom tickets go on sale April 5-27

Frequently Asked Questions:

1- Can freshmen (9th grade) and sophomores (10th grade) attend Prom?

Freshmen and sophomores can attend as a guest of a junior or senior student.

2- Can students from other schools attend?

Students from other schools can attend as a guest of a CEC junior or senior student and with prior approval. Please pick-up an approval form from the front office, which must be turned in when purchasing your tickets.

3- Can part-time CEC students attend Prom?

Yes, part-time CEC junior and senior students are also invited. The same rules apply for inviting underclassmen and students from other schools.

4- When can I buy tickets?

TIckets will be sold April 5-27 during lunch and afterschool near the cafeteria. No tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event. Please plan accordingly and get your tickets soon!

5- What if I can't afford the ticket price?

If you/your family are experiencing a financial hardship and cannot afford a ticket, please contact Diana_Perez@dpsk12.net to request an application for assistance.

6- What if I need help getting a prom dress or accessories?

Bella Boutique, a local non-profit organization is helping area teens with free gowns, shoes, accessories and more for their high school dances. Schedule an appointment for your own personal shopping experience. Act fast, spaces are limited. Click the link to schedule now; Free Prom Dress

Counselors' Corner

FREE (and get paid) Summer Outdoor Experience

11-day leadership experience in Rocky Mountain National Park to empower students and give them outdoor experience, leadership development, etc. No outdoor experience needed! All expenses paid and you get $400. Click here for more information or see Ms.O’Kelly in the library for more information.

Interested in Outdoor Rock Climbing Field Trip

Learn to rock climb (with ropes). Lesson, gear and transportation included, Sat. May 14. No experience needed. Space is limited. See Ms. O’Kelly in the library for more information.

Summer Teaching Internship-Earn $3600

DSF Scholarship for Seniors

Seniors can earn up to $3600 a year for up to 4 years. Seniors who have at least 2.0 GPA and have attended a DPS high school for 4 years may be eligible. No essay required. Find application and other information at: DSF-scholarship

CEC Counseling

Class of 2022 Graduation is May 24

Following are some preliminary details for CEC Early College Graduation that we would like to share with you. We are still working on getting some additional details confirmed and will update this information as we find out more and the date gets closer:

Tuesday, May 24, 3 PM - 4PM

About

This is an indoor, in-person ceremony. Masks are optional. The most up-to-date health requirements for the City of Denver can be found here: Denver Public-Health-Orders

Venue Name and Address

Denver Center for the Performing Arts Boettcher Concert Hall

1000 14th St, Denver, CO 80202

Guests & Capacity

All students will be given a limited number of tickets for the graduation ceremony, this number is yet to be determined due to new changes to public health orders. We will update this portion as soon as we can confirm the number.

Tickets

Tickets will be distributed to students during Senior Checkout on Wednesday, May 18. All guests must have a ticket to enter the venue. We will update the number of tickets that each student will get as soon as it is confirmed. Please stay posted.

Cap & Gown

Cap & Gown are required to walk in the ceremony. This must be ordered at: rmbalfour.com Prices will continue to increase, so get yours soon and before the cut-off date to ensure delivery to school and in time for students to get them during Senior Checkout on May 18.

Streaming Services

To be determined, information will be shared as soon as it is confirmed.

Parking

Parking in the Arts Complex Parking. Garage entrances are located on Arapahoe and 13th St. $12 per vehicle.

Access Times

All students must arrive at 11 AM for graduation rehearsal. Doors will open at 2:30 PM for guests. The ceremony will begin promptly at 3 PM.

Professional Photography

To be determined, information will be shared as soon as it is confirmed.

Interpretation

To be determined, information will be shared as soon as it is confirmed.

Food/Beverage

Food and Beverage will not be allowed in the venue at the time of the ceremony. There will be lunch provided to students during graduation rehearsal.

Transportation

Students and guests will be required to secure their own transportation to and from the graduation venue site.
