Styrofoam Ban Starts Next Month
On July 1, 2021, food and beverage containers made with expanded polystyrene (EPS) will no longer be allowed in the City of Ventura.

Commonly known as Styrofoam, EPS food containers are a prevalent form of litter found in our storm drains, creeks, rivers, and beaches. The City Council adopted the ban in November 2020.

For businesses, a one-year exemption is available for food and beverage service providers. Click here to apply for the hardship exemption online.
Outdoor Art Event at the Historic Olivas Adobe
Join us every second Sunday for artist exhibits at the Olivas Adobe. Artist Laura Jean Jesperson has taken inspiration from Olivas Family stories and created a series of paintings depicting the romance of the site and the natural world that surrounds it.

On June 13, Plein air artists are invited to join us at the Olivas Adobe to view the exhibit and paint or sketch on the park grounds. Attendees will find lots of inspiration at this beautiful historic site.

Pet Preparedness Month
Pets are part of the family, plan for them too! Being prepared will help reduce the stress of leaving your home in a hurry.

  • Pack a go-kit: include food, water, medication, identification, leashes, vaccination records, and first aid kit.
  • Ensure your pet is microchipped so you can be reunited in the event of separation.
  • Don't forget about livestock: train them to be loaded into trailers easily and attach an ID tag to their halter or lead rope.
  • During an evacuation, bring your pets. If left behind, it's dangerous for them and first responders.
